I will give you this one. The only sad part is that after Automata, they again seem to just give Yoko trash budgets for new instalments instead of betting the farm on him.

Taro should be leading like a multi million dollar budget game at this point with a blank cheque like Kojima got from Sony, where he basically can do whatever the fuck he wants for his Next Big Thing. Instead, we get a by the numbers remake of the first game from an unproven obscure developer. I fear for the remake that it won't make the splash that it should make.

Seiken was good up until 2 and 3 on the SNES, and it kinda already stopped being good after 2 when Nasir left and their programming god/guru left. After his departure, nobody could debug or fix the engine anymore, leading to SD3 being such a bugfest that was impossible to fix for western release.

Also, the games barely get any budget, and the 'remakes' got like a shoestring budget compared to FF7 Remake. It's also way too weeby without a big visual makeover to make it appeal more to western audiences.

You do realise that the game being unknown in the West bears no relevance to the quality of the product itself? The EOPs lap up garbage localizations that fuck the plot and character development because both need to be dumbed down if you want to sell your stuff in the West, the Western audiences opinions on Japanese media are objectively trash and should be discarded entirely.

final fantasy is the only game series that has the sales potential of a last of us or fallout game. its clear to see why it remains squenixs flagship. it took nier automata over 4 years to reach 5 million, ff7 remake did that in less than half a year.
