Why not?

Why does 6 come before 5 in this image?

Real men and wo(men) play XII

Lightning is so beautiful. I wish she was my wife.

I-X is a solid trip, except maybe 2.
after that the identity of the series gets really hazy

4 > 5 > 1 > 6 > 8 > 12 > 15 > 10 > 3 > 13 > 9 > 7 > 2
(im just rating them this is not the order you should play them in)

5 (GBA with sound patch)
6 (SNES)
7 (remako mod)
9 (moguri mod)
10 (both OG and HD are fine)
12 (Zodiac Age)
FFT (PSP)

there. All the great final fantasies. They all run fine/can be modded/emulated even on a toaster. You have no excuse now

What was the last main final fantasy with traditional turn based gameplay? I’ve never played any of these, I guess Bravely Default would be the closest I’ve played to classic ff, but ff15 and 7r look like straight up action games

arr rook same

>traditional turn based
X

1-3 are traditional turn based
4-9 are action turn based
10 was traditional turn based again
After that every game experimented with something different

I just got to the end of Barheim passage in XII (Zodiac age).... when does it start to get good?

Is the ffx hd collection a good buy if I want traditional final fantasy games that also look good

6 >= 4 > 5 > 9 > 8 > 10 > 1 > 3 > 7 >= 2
for me. Didn't play anything past 10 except Dissidia and free trial of 14
1st and last place were pretty hard, cause I love both 4 and 6, but 6 is slightly winning it with better villain.
In case of last place - 2 had better story than 7, but oh god those mechanics were shit.

it doesn't

Not to be pedantic but it's not 100% traditional in the sense each character on the battlefield has his own turn order instead of everyone selecting their commands at once and then speed dictating the turn order with everyone getting one action in on one turn. In FFX a single character can go several times before another one takes his turn.
But who knows what user meant by "traditional" anyway.

Sure

When you unlock the Hunts, don't remember when that is
If you already unlocked Hunts and didn't like them just drop it

no

this post confuses me, are you actually retarded or just pretending to be retarded? I guess it doesnt matter which cause youre still a retard

The plot is not traditional by any means and while X is turn based X-2 is ATB (turn based on timers)
but yeah they're good games

Gee Cecil, how come you get two slots?

the image would have a blank spot since they didn't add XVI's protagonist yet.

>Not knowing how to read roman numerals

3/10, got mildly buttflustered

Should've been Terra and Celes for VI then

Depends. The HD version uses fucked up looking models and in the process broke a lot of the more subtle facial animation. Tidus isn't supposed to look like a meth head in the original but he does in the HD version. I'd reccomend emulating the PS2 International version. But if you're willing to overlook that, the HD version has an upside of a speed up function and auto battle which can be useful to get over some minor grinding or more boring sections where you're just spamming attack.

2 3 4 4 5 6...
Way to count op

If you decide to emulate just make sure it's the International version

I've only finished original FFVII. Started VIII, but dropped it halfway through because it's trash.

Just as a quick comparison. The lighting is also fucked and a lot of scenes just look much worse for it. But it's up to you.

Don't know what that is, so probably not.

I find the combat a bit boring (my first JRPG) but I find I die a lot the most. Am I missing something? I have not figured out how to level any skills and have no new equipment, just what I have started with. Is this normal that early on?

The characters' eyes look way more asian in the original version, interesting how they changed it for the HD remake.

Play I, IV, VII and X.
If you like them play III, VI and IX.
Consider playing V, VIII and XII but they range from meh to really mediocre.
Don't touch anything after XIII, including XIII.
Only worthy spinoffs are the Tactics games and Crystal Chronicles.

It's not like SquareEnix has a good track record with their re-releases of past games. The older ones on Steam look like a cheap RPGMaker version with every asset clashing drastically. I have no idea how anyone can look at those and think it looks better than the original.

When people say to play 1 I can't imagine they mean the NES version. I tried to play it for a few hours and it has the same issues Dragon Quest 1 has of requiring absurd amounts of grinding while having no idea where or what you're supposed to do.

You're supposed to unlock more stuff through the job system, each character has stats that fits one class or another better. Equipment is like 70% of a battle outcome early on too, so make sure to update it regularly for all your characters.

Get one white mage in your party if you're gonna be fighting anything tough. Penelo is a good fit. Remember that you have to buy licenses for magicks.

I found that black magic generally sucks in early-mid XII, it's better to let your characters attack and avoid wasting MP, Time and Green magics can be good situationally tho, most importantly slow and haste.

Play the GBA version.
If you get stuck use a guide but only to know where to go.

Really not hard. You fucking zoomers and your attention spans are the reason we have such a huge infestation of secondaries

>absurd amount of grinding
>speedrun record is like 1 hour
Or you could just git gud

Don't play I.

VIII and XII aren't so bad.

Not touching XIII is 100% true. XV can be pretty comfy though, beyond the boring battle system.

There's that one mobile game that has a sick battle track.

>4, 7, 10 are must plays
Ever thought of thinking for yourself instead of doing what the hivemind tells you?
>Recommends 3 but 5 is a "consider"
5 is 3 on steroids. It's much better. I think you might be retarded, son

>speedrun
As if they are any indication for how long games are.

Why don't they just remake all final fantasys

Ask me how I know you just rate them based on Zig Forums opinions and you haven't played any of them

Would a Final Fantasy with a male Viera ever work out? I've always wondered why we see females but never the males. Sure, they may be so skilled to hide in the forests and never be seen/only seen by female Viera, but I've always thought one of them striking out on their own as an adventurer would be a neat thing to see.

Attached: Nomura FFXVI.png (337x932, 591.05K)

It's really not that bad man
The only part I remember needing to grind for is the pirates in the second town
Unless you consider retreating in dungeons after exhausting your supplies/resources grinding

Attached: Screenshot 2020-10-15 032739.png (1183x653, 372.4K)

But I is THE Final Fantasy.
Is the foundation of the franchise. You have to play it.
