It's just normal Yugioh being rebooted as a third option format, like how Speed Duels exist. Rush duels carry the same rules except for having about 2-3 new ones. One involves drawing more cards for free when conditions are met and the other is that you are only allowed to have one 1 legend card in your deck and only 1 copy of it.

The borders are fine. The problem is that they didn't sold any of the issues the original have. Turning the stars into just one number is a great ease of use fix but what about text space? It's the same exact size as the original. You'd think they'd take all the extra space they created with the smaller borders and expand the text boxes

No, it's just a hard limit. It's obviously done to slow down power creep and broken decks years from now. Instead of someone running 3 of the best card, all the most best monster cards are legends and you can only run a single legend and only 1 of that legend in your whole deck. It's so you don't have dumb garbage like people running 3 (insert meta monster here) and just turboing stuff out.
It's literally marketed towards kids, so why does it matter? Konami finally realized they couldn't this costly route to win games if they wanted to bring in new and younger players, so they've invented a budget reboot of the game... although the cost of playing meta is still insanely pricey. Blue-Eyes right now is over a hundred dollars on the secondary market. It's a good budget game for the younger audience who will buy small packs and structure decks but still just as bad in the secondary market for older meta hogs.

Rituals as a whole were never good until many years later, around the whole Gishki and Chaos Form era, and those are mostly specific arche-type decks made for fusions. In some games, yes. It was a game exclusive. Yugioh has a lot of game exclusive cards and even game exclusive versions of cards that work better. Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon was actually a ritual monster in some games and some games had fusion cards solely for bringing Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon out.
