They added another Fire Emblem character. I know Byleth is different with directional inputs meaning different weapons but it’s kind of samey. Actually as I’m typing this I realize Byleth has no counter like the rest of the Fire Emblems.
If I recall Sakurai wanted all DLC characters to be unique in some way. Joker has Persona time, Hero has a magic menu, Banjo has invincibility, Terry has new moves past a certain damage threshold, Byleth has directional inputs, MinMin has both A/B control an arm, and Steve mines/builds blocks. Maybe if they add Cinderace it will have a gimmick like the rest seeing that even a character like Byleth acts differently

Never. If they were planning to include a SwSh rep, they would've saved the SwSh spirits for the reveal/presentation, just like they did with Byleth.
They're marketing him with Lucario and Pikachu pretty heavy in the anime, with barely any other Gen 8 Pokemon appearing so far, so his chances are high if they even add a Pokemon.

Fighter pass 2's lineup was decided since before Terry's reveal. Not that I think a Pokemon's as "basically confirmed" as smashfags think.
The next pokemon rep better not be a current gen shillmon. They need to add a longtime favorite like Gardevoir.
This, meanwhile Rex has a huge fanbase that wants him in, is from a series only repped by one character and has a moveset that’s unique enough to be DLC and can be super fun as well.
I hope this is the case and he gets in. Sakurai always likes gimmicks so hopefully the blade system suffices.
