same. Pyre was great. Not perfectly to my taste, but it was a fantastic ride. Also probably the smoothest/most polished indie game i've played.
Admittedly, few are based enough to actually beat this, but man is it all worth it in the end.
Yeah, I can see why it's the most niche of Supergiant's games when it's trying to hit fans that would like a balance between a fantasty RPG, Visual novel, basketball tournament, and the Oregon Trail. But I thought it was fun, and it had my favorite story, characters, and music of any of their line-up.
Wish more people could look past the sports theme and give it a go.
A lot of people slept on Wandersong because of how simple it looked, but it made me feel feelings. But it made me feel a lot of feelings.
I'm glad that Hades has got Supergiant a lot of attention, even if it's not my favorite of their games.
I'd argue Pyre had the best story of their line-up so far, god I loved that game. Gameplay wasn't the greatest but even then it still did really neat/unique stuff with it that I've never seen before.
Story
Pyre > Bastion > Hades > Transistor
Gameplay
Hades >>> Transistor > Hades > Bastion
>Medieval TLoU except is brother/sister instead of father/daughter
>Has a much more interesting premise and "monster" design(as in, how rats are used during the game)
Seriously, you would think it would be talked about a lot more, I guess the ending is not that good? it didn't have as much marketing?
I think it's still indie despite how nice the graphics are, so a lot of the marketing is probably word-of-mouth. I was surprised how high quality it felt though. Creative puzzles filtered through the horror element of wading through oceans of rats, good character-driven story, nice direction, etc.
The ending was bit abrupt but apparently a sequel's already in development so I'm interested to see where they go with it.
Great game, I think I got it in a humble bundle back in the day. This big nigga scared me like you wouldn’t believe
Is it like Clock Tower? God knows I want to play more games like it.
Anybody still plays dead cells? I got it 2 weeks ago and have been playing continuously ever since. The combat is just so juiced.
Got burned out after 100h.
bump
I really liked it but dropped it as I was trying to get everyone out
its just a lot of repeating the same shit after the first one and its neat to see new conversations but the gameplay doesnt really change
user you're replying to here, I actually liked the sports thing, I like almost everything about the game, but there are small aspects to it that feel very "modern" in a way that annoys me. It's hard to describe. But when I say "it's not perfectly to my taste" I mean it *almost* is, with just a few things that irk me.
Mostly just story/setting type things: there's things about it that make it feel like its made to appeal to witchy tumblr girls.
Really depressed about what happened to the company. Damn CCP.
It's a bit like the first clocktower as far as point-and-click horror goes. I don't recall monsters pursuing you quite as adamantly and randomly as the scissorman did though.
I got burned out around when they added shitty elite abilities without making any attempt to actually balance them, while also having a bajillion cursed chests everywhere. After they kept elites from murdering you before you even get into their room, I was able to go back and finally finish 5cell.
It's their worst game. The basketball part is cool but I can never get through the other parts of the game. The characters do nothing for me. I love Bastion, Transistor, and Hades though. Been playing the shit out of Hades lately
Pyre was really shooting to that Pathalogic level of ambition, it's too out there even if the story and gameplay are pretty simple, strongest concept by them yet and excellent execution. Yet not memetic enough for Zig Forums to discuss, unlike above mentioned game.
it's a daily topic on /vst/ my dude
Wasn't motivated to continue after 2BC, got bored grinding cells and items
Drakenier discussion used to be really great here, but a combination of Automata becoming popular and this site getting even shittier than usual in the past year really killed it.
Just started playing this after finishing hades, im liking it a lot but i fucking hate jodariel wish i could kick him of my group
Wandersong really prioritizes story/music/humor over gameplay challenge but it's really damn charming.
Doesn’t help I played it years after release I guess
You can just ignore chests, you know.
I am at 2bc too, feel like parry/melee builds don't work anymore. It's all ranged and dot pilings.
I really liked the start of this game but felt like I kept hitting a wall with difficult encounters. I know you're supposed to get creative with the environment and the tools they give you but I think I just leveled up wrong and need to try again.
melee still works, but after 2BC the game not just expects, it demands perfection and practicing, especially with parry, you can't fuck around just as freely
Different user here, I just wish they dropped all the other thing and I could just play championship match after match, fifa style.
Some of the later enemies have bullshit 1milisecond wind-up times and then they pile like 8 enemies in a floor. I just use nuke/range type weapons/items because of that. And the game just punishes slow, methodical play or tanking play styles because of the time and no-hit doors.
