Overwatch is mostly played on pc and exclusively played on pc by professional players. No game can have an esport scene if it's not on pc. If anything, overwatch and console shooters only make people who get them on consoles feel the urge to get a gaming pc to play at a better level.

He likely means shit like fighting and sports games which are definitely esports as well but not really close to the same league as shooters and mobas. Even then, fighting games just use whichever console runs the games the best. In gen 7 a lot of games ran the 360 versions for tournaments iirc.

No one is bringing a shit ton of PCs to a tournament when consoles are easier, more portable and typically have less issues. Also the type of controller hasn't been relevant in ages. Pads were generally considered the worst thing to use but people are still winning big tournaments with them.
