Despite their investments into companies like Bethesda they really aren't banking on exclusive titles to sell their consoles.

You know that Microsoft's platform is game pass right. Series X is just their attempt at giving people the most cost effective price-for-performance way of getting people onto game pass.
It's only going to snowball, more subs = more frequent studio acquisitions.

I find it interesting that after several generations of producing pretty average new content, and cock ups like the kinect, RROD and XOne launch that people seem on board with MS at the turn of a new generation. They started in 2018. 2 years isn't even remotely enough time for a AAA game. Of course, that's why they've been putting out AA games in the meantime, but everyone complains that AA games are all garbage and only blockbuster cinematic AAA games matter.

Actual next gen games will be out next year. Also most of sony's game are designed w ps4 in mind. Console launch will be sold out for both camps in their stronghold territories because the core needs their fix. The fence folks will grab it the following year.
