I am very wary of their ability to write something not completely retarded but I kinda liked the footage seen in the trailer

It stands a pretty good chance of it, they have an all-star cast of people on it that are mainly interested in games more like the NES and non-magitek SNES games.
I'm very optimistic just based off of who they got as a battle designer. Squeenix in general is capable of pretty competent action games when they actually want to make one (Kingdom Hearts, FF7R) and bringing along some DMC5 staff to help make XVI is a good good sign.

I will probably pirate it unless it comes with a good price tag to Steam. My issue isn't timed exclusivity itself. Sony or MS pays to devs so I can't have to.Which means they are paying for my cracked copy. My issue is Sony's shady marketing. They are acting so cowardly despite winning every generation thus far besides Wii360 in sales yet they aren't honest when it comes to marketing. PS5 will be sold out this year and probably next year too already. Why are they still using these shady business speak is something I don't know.

The writer of FF16 worked on FF Tactics, Vagrant Story, FFXII and FFXIV Heavensward (the best expansion and the best story in like 13 years). I have nothing to worry about.
