all things considered this game has no business being as fun as it is.
Basically what you do is talk to the game to lure a ghost out of hiding by saying shit like "give us a sign" and saying the name of the ghost you want to find, while using different items to deduce what kind of ghost you are dealing with. I have no idea how long this will be fun but for €11 I feel like I'm already getting my money's worth.
What does Zig Forums think of the current fotm game?

its fun
i hope the singular dev keeps improving the game

I want to try it because it looks like some decent fun for a fotm, but none of my friends are interested. Oh well.

>HUR DUR HOW DARE PEOPLE ENJOY THINGS I DONT LIKE???
that's all im hearing.

I heard he's already hiring more people to work on it fulltime
>source: my friend who has been following this game for a little longer and roped me into playing it with him, so take that as you will

based retard

does Zig Forums not have an opinion on this game?

It's actually a lot of fun

It's in desperate need of more maps
I also hope the dev doesn't decide the game needs jumpscares at any point
The game really nailed the atmospheric horror on maps like Asylum and being able to hear the footsteps of a nearby ghost while hiding during a hunt scares more than any jumpscare ever will

Is it a fun game or it's a fun with friends™ game?

It's actually a lot of fucking fun. Least me and my friends are having fun with it.

it's the type of game that's best experienced with friends
it's what the game is designed for
There are people that play it solo, I am not one of them

Essentially. Its definitely not fun by yourself since a lot of the content is designed for a party.
Like a lot of indie jank, its fun is elevated by friends.
The voice recognition shit is a nice touch too.
>Watching a friend through the van monitor while he tries to get the ghosts attention at farmhouse
>"Well the spirit box isn't working, and I am NOT turning the lights off.
>Lights immediately turn off.
>"Alright fuck you." as he slowly shambles back to the van.

I have yet to have to hide, how exactly does it work?
The worst I've encountered so far was suddenly watching my 100 sanity friend die right before my eyes as he was trying to escape from a room where the Mare suddenly went into hunting mode at the highschool.

this game has an almost supernatural sense of comedic timing
This might just be confirmation bias but there have been at least 2 or 3 cases of one of us saying Bloody Mary and a ghost event happening the SECOND after
there's still a lot I don't understand about hunting so my usual routine is
>run into nearest room and close the door
>if there's a closet then hide in there
>turn off ALL electronics (flashlights, EMF, Parabolic Mic, etc.)
>don't make any noise whatsoever, not even speaking
>listen for footsteps
>watch flickering flashlight to know when hunt is over
Some ghosts behave differently than others during a hunt (there's one ghost that will start hunting but doesn't attack until it has line of sight, some ghosts walk through walls, etc.)
Some can attack unprovoked
If you have a Crucifix then you can place it in a hiding spot to guarantee that a Hunt will not start there (since the Crucifix will cancel a Hunt if the ghost begins Hunting within the range of the Crucifix)

The voice stuff is really great

>exploring the farmhouse
>ghost turns off the lights
>go turn them back on
>a minute later the ghost turns the lights off again
>go turn them on again
>”this fucking ghost turns the lights off too much”
>lights turn off again as soon as I leave the power box room

Another time
>exploring the small house from the tutorial
>car alarm in the garage starts going off so I bring the ouija board there
>me and a friend in the garage together
>ask the board “how many people are in here?”
>board moves to 3 as the EMF reader goes crazy
>hunt starts immediately after
>spawns right behind my friend and kills him

I want to say it's line of sight but idk the mechanics of doors. I was in farmhouse and the cunt ghost ran all the way from the basement to the room I was in and phased through the door and scared the ever living fuck out of me and murdered me. I then decided to follow the ghost during a hunt and it 100% will go into rooms and "clear" them by running into corners. Sometimes the ghost gets glitchy and runs back and forth on stairs but it's pretty consistent normally otherwise

>player movement has different framerate than camera movement
how the fuck is this allowed? i got constant headaches due to that retarded shit

attic, not basement

we found the retard

I couldn't complete a single mission because I'm trying it solo and got scared but tomorrow it's gonna be ever worse since I'll try it in vr

I started the game in VR and I don't think I could ever give Desktop a chance.
This game is something else in VR, it actually makes me sweat sometimes because of how anxious I get

Playing alone is definitely hard. Even just going into a room alone with others waiting outside makes me uncomfortable as fuck.
You get a little bit more used to it over time though.

actually, the dev recently came out and said that he very specifically would /not/ be hiring anyone to work on the game. Stating that it's "his passion project" and "doesn't want anyone else altering the scope of his game"

Take that information as you will

>What does Zig Forums think of the current fotm game?
I don't think it's fotm, its probably the only good multiplayer horror game I've ever played through. Trying to learn how to ghost hunt along with your friends, especially when goading on the more timid among them to investigate harder, is honestly a pretty fun time. The immersion it takes you into is overall pretty good besides a few minor bugs i've come across. Honestly I don't know of any even decent multiplayer horror games this in the other hand is great. Whoever did this has my props, most fun horror game I've played in awhile and something that can actually still be scary in a group setting.

Good, I like the guy's vision and he's clearly very motivated. If the dev can make something as awesome as this solo, then he's more than proven himself if he had to join some kind of a team project. Good move on his part desu

so how does this game play?
one guy is doing things everyone else is watching him like keep talking and dont explode?

no, everyone plays
it's just that you can stay in the van and watch the cameras that others put down or carry on their head.
For one of the evidence you need to watch for a flying orb on the cameras

the game can be played solo just fine its just harder and more suspenseful.

how are the controls for VR?
do you need to move fast in this game? one of my friends gets motion sick easily

there's like two speeds
>slow as shit
>a little less slow but still fucking slow while holding the run button

Group of people preferred, because you only have three equipment slots and theres a lot of equipment to use for process of elimination, AND theres a timer that causes the ghost to start getting pissed when it hits zero, making time management important-ish.
The van has a camera monitor, position tracking, noise and spirit activity sensors, so its also usually good to have someone stay behind or rotate in to keep an eye on things (and check for ghost orbs on cameras).

The movement is slow as fuck.
I really don't know why they even have a "walk" state, the "run" state is slower than a lot of game's walk states. From a gameplay perspective it makes sense though.

I don't have other people I can play this game with but I'm fascinated by its concept and I hope it continues to grow. As long as the dev(s) don't try to turn it into yet asymmetrical online game and it retains its co-op puzzle nature then I think it's going in the right direction.
