I fucking loved that game

I just finished it and god damn, it was so good. The best gameplay I experienced in the series, fighting Zodiark was the biggest rush I had in a RPG.

Any game like this with a huge world and challenging gameplay?

Eh, Maybe Xenoblade chronicles 1 and 2? Really those only games that come close but XC2 despite being an amazing game has some dumb ass anime cliche shit.

White knight Chronicles (and 2) kind of have the same gameplay. But it's ps3 only so yeah.

How's the writing for Xenoblade? Is it any good?

>The best gameplay I experienced in the series

then you clearly haven't played any spin-offs

Attached: 1602129306267.png (640x320, 427K)

First game is alright. Really nothing to write home about.

2nd game, and it's reasonable you won't believe me because of how anime and gay it looks, gets pretty good story wise in the second half. it does a 180 and gets a more serious tone. The characters are all great. Both Xeno games will last you quite a while. Biggest issue with 2 is getting the best Blades is completely random. I played 150 hours before I got KOS-MOS (yes she's in the game). But there's so much to do in 2 you can easily be managing 3-4 things at any given time aside from the main story.

What spin-offs?

>Dude what if we made half the playable cast be inconsequential to the story
>Dude what if we made a cast that barely says anything and almost never interacts with each other
>Dude what if we made multiple cutscenes where the main character has no idea what's going on and just stands in the background while people who matter speak
>Dude what if we made a villain who has zero emotional connection to the heroes and doesn't even meet them until the last ten minutes
>Dude what if Star Wars
>Dude what if we gave the narrator a comical Apu accent
>Dude what if we made a political plot and then ruined it by turning it into standard ancient god shenanigans
>Dude what if we made a plot where the heroes have almost no impact on what happens until 95% of the way through the story and spend their time traipsing through non-descript caves and ruins
>Dude what if I'm Captain Basch
>Dude what if we made the sheathing/unsheathing animation stop you before and after every battle
>Dude what if we took everything 100% seriously and had zero levity
>Dude what if we wrote all of the dialogue to sound like a Renaissance Fair
>Dude what if we we had no overworld and all travel was handled by a menu or floating teleport crystals
>Dude what if we made a battle system where you set everything up in advance so that you don't actually play the game
>Dude what if we made summons useless except for opening doors
>Dude what if instead of fun side quests we had only fetch/kill quests like in some generic MMO
>Dude what if instead of having fun side games like the motorcycle chase and Triple Triad we had nothing
>Dude what if we had really shitty music

Also Both Xeno game have huge worlds to explore. Xenoblade 1 has "zones" like FF12 except theyre much larger. 2 has just huge land islands i guess you could call them. Bunch of hidden stuff all around, a lot of it you might have to come back later when you're higher level'd because of high level enemies or the sort.

I also forgot to meantion Xenoblade Chron X though it's a rough game IMO. The story is trash and I hated all the characrers and the battling isn't great but the world is amazing and very very very large:

tactics, X-2, LR, 7R

Tactics is set in the same world but other than that none of these games are anything like 12.

>Shitty Music

nigga

None of these games except Tactics can pretend to have better gameplay than FFXII.

>Dude what if we made summons useless except for opening doors
>Dude what if we had really shitty music
i kinda agree with these. i never felt like summons were interesting, and they fucked my party build. the music isn't bad, but it's subpar for ff

t. hasn't played any

gambit system is cool but XII's gameplay overall is trash

worst and most forgettable ost in the series and that's a fucking fact
could say the same for the cast and story as well

But I have played them?

Literally none of those games are ANYTHING gameplay wise like FF12 except being RPG's. If that's the case I guess we can call Kingdom hearts and Pokemon just like FF12.

I don't agree with that, I found it much better than 10/10-2's but if we're comparing it to like 7-9 then yeah it can't compete.

>XII ost anywhere near X

awful bait

You are out of your fucking mind
youtu.be/8CTnqYZIGiA?t=46

No you haven't. The gambit system is great, but even X-2 has far better gameplay than XII all-round.

1/4th of X's OST is just tons of versions of the Faith song. Aside from that it's kinda meh. "Other World" was a cool song when I was younger but it's kinda lame now.

That's all final fantasy tho, did you even play any of them?

Once again OP is asking for gameplay similar to FF12 aka Open world/Real Time. None of those games you listed are that.

FFT is a turned based Tactics Game

FFX-2 is a turn based game, though plays more like Chrono Trigger with class changes than anything.

Last remnant (which i assume you mean for LR) isn't a FF spin off btw, but doesn't matter because it's a turn based 'strategy' game where you can flat out not progress in the game if you battle too much near the first half, making the enemy level up too much as well.

And FF7 remake is a linear action game, basically kingdom hearts 3.

So yeah please post "lol u never played them" or something dumb.

X-2 is an horribly unbalanced mess with no challenge whatsoever. There is no depth attached with its battle system outside of visual fluff. Literally nothing comes close to any of the hunts available in FFXII in terms of challenge and strategies. You're just talking out of your ass now.

>LR
>Last Remnant

So i've played the games numerous times what is this confusing gif supposed to articulate.

way to prove you haven't played any of those games and not realizing LR is Lightning Returns

>an horribly

shut the fuck up

lol How does me confusing Last Remnant and lighting returns, which by the way, is not what OP is asking for either, mean anything other than you being a giant retard?

>X-2
>turn-based

retard

So does anyone actually have any games that play similarly to FFXII?

From what I'm understanding, the party is horribly underleveled so he has to kite around in order to avoid damage. He dispels and puts oil on Cid in order to remove his buffs and apply a debuff, and then uses firaga that reflects on everyone for extra damage except that they still receive damage back for some reason so he has to time it for the spell to go off before they die. And I think he goes into the menu in order to reset their animation by changing equipment.

Never played it, but playing the executioner dude in Dissida 012 made me want to.

>avoiding the argument by pointing out grammar

I don't get why people love this game so much. Everything about it is just so bland, and the gambit system gets old fast. The story, characters, music, and dungeon design are all just mediocre.

It's FF12 speedrunning tactics, if you're interested.

I listed the only real ones above, the Xeno games and White Knight, but yeah this thread is basically now just 3 dudes calling 1 dude a retard for trying to suggest FFX-2 is the same thing as 12.

XII has no challenge either. No FF has any challenge. The most challenging FF game is 7R on Hard.

xenoblade 1 but its nowhere near in-depth with statuses and elements, instead focusing on characters being a different niche of gameplay,

>And FF7 remake is a linear action game, basically kingdom hearts 3.

shit bait

Can you recommend a good rpg? Really looking for something to play on an upcoming trip. Doesn't need to be switch.

XII's hunts are pretty challenging, especially if you do some of them as soon as they become available.
