What I've noticed from forums and when i went to the Castlevania booth at comiccon is that women are more hardcore than men these days. They are actually into these fantastic worlds and want to recreate it, will play irl games like guys used to do with DnD. It even seems like most people interested in retro gaming are women now. It's the complete opposite of the stereotype that they only care about image. If anything i see that more with men now with their brand loyalty to Steam, Tendo, etc.
