Reminder that G-String is out on Steam. It's a Japanese cyberpunk FPS built using Source Engine that has been in development since 2008, and originally released in free demo form back in 2011, but that little of that version remains. It's like 10-15 hours long, fully voice acted, and absolutely nails the genre. It's miserable cyberpunk, not "cool" cyberpunk. The air is poison, the government keeps telling the population that fucking robots is preferred to fucking humans, and euthanasia is both legal and affordable.

I feel like a lot of cyberpunk works are unwilling to drill down into how miserable life under a system like this is. They're too infatuated with the genre iconography.

the original free version had awful shooting. the crosshair was removed for no reason and it tried to push you into using some weird fireball telekinesis attack instead. it was only tolerable because of op bullet time.

The art design has been completely redone in the retail version. This includes all the ads. The new ones are better, though, IMO.

The game had a day 1 patch, and they're gonna refine it further in response to feedback. So I'd beware of torrenting it because you will end up with an outdated build.
Yea, the lead dev is a Japanese woman as far as anyone knows. For this commercial version they had some assistance. Very similar to how New Blood helped with Maximum Action until they had that falling out recently.

Details are unclear. Dev is gonna issue a blog post at some point. It was apparently "creative differences" over the game's general direction. As a consequence, all the New Blood related content has been removed or de-NBed. The new OST has been reverted back to the original one. The Dusk level is called Forest now I think, and is daytime instead. Stuff like that.
