I mean considering all the crazy shit in the series, I don't think it's too crazy to imagine a dragon that can somehow produce flammable liquid (?) from what are basically another set of arms which also double as wings. I mean aside from flying faster and therefore catching more prey, I'm not sure how else that would have evolved but I guess its not too crazy.

Only as crazy as Brachy and Miralis.

For me, jet fighter dragon is monster hunter designs jumping the shark. It's a fun fight but I don't like the design.

Not him but the devs have clearly stated the black dragons don't have to adhere to proper physiology or logic because they're supposed to embody those actual myths of the black dragons. Other monster they try and keep more grounded

Suspension of disbelief is entirely relative, but a dragon with complete control over natural elements is more reasonable than a dragon with a dragon energy powered ramjet engine in it's chest that can fly around like Goku.

Eh, a dragon that can breathe fire out of it's wings isn't too much of a stretch for me.

Is he actually breathing? His description doesn't explain much so I assumed it was like brachy. He produces some kind of liquid and Idk ignites it by using his sharp scales to produce a spark

finally got around to playing mhgu (i played mh generations whne it came out for like 300 hours), and i gotta say, valstrax sucks. the fucking nigger just jets across the map nonstop and the fucking thing just moves around like a spas, and its probably the easiest elder dragon ever. fucking trash fight, feels like an iceborne monster desu

He takes air into the vents in his upper chest to charge up for use his large flying attacks. If you break his chest he can't do them anymore.

According to the anniversary artbook, it has an organ that turns the air it takes in into dragon energy, which is then expelled out his wings. Sort of like Gravios's gas, but much more explosive.

Is that confirmed or just speculation based on him losing the ability to do those attacks? Not like it outright deconfirms my headcanon anyway as both ideas can coexist but just curious

No, he's right, that's why Valstrax gets toppled if you hit his chest enough while he's charging it.

No, not for the anatomy but for the shitty Dalamadur scales it has. Valstrax should have been a smooth and shiny monster like Brachydios. I absolutely loathe the scale/shell design for Strax.

I'm not saying he doesn't charge up. I'm was asking if anything in the game explicitly states that's how it works like how they explain things for other monsters occasionally. Or even some kind of art book or dev interview. It just seems like speculation is what I'm saying. I mean it doesnt matter anyway as I doubt he'll ever return to the mainline series but it's interesting to talk about I guess

i use every weapon but i only bother with gunning at endgame, so no, im not a gunner. the fight sucks and i dont see what people like about it

Oh shit didn't even see this reply. But yeah that's about what I expected. Kind of like a car mixing air with gas. Except instead of gas it's some natural liquid from its body used to created a sustained explosion. Neat. Now if only they could explain the wing/arms being able to bend the ways they do...
