This. I had an English flatmate for a while. All he did was play Football Manager. It looked like the most boring game ever, but he loved it. He played no other games. He was from the norf, if that makes any difference.

A huge portion of the native English population fled to Wales and Scotland when the Normans (modern French) invaded around 1000 years ago.

Since then the 'English' (Mainly Norman but occasionally invaded by Vikings, Saxons, Jutes and Dutch) spent most of their energy turning them into vassal states.

Since then since political/cultural power has been concentrated in London and the English have just used those countries for whatever resources they could(Wales was rich in coal, Scotland still has the North Sea oil fields). There's been moves for greater independence but aside from smouldering anti English sentiment not a lot happens there.

Listen Zig Forums. If you're going to try and get people pissed at something could you at least be productive and get them pissed at the English?

Because we know history. England literally conquered Wales against their will, then attempted to conquer Scotland, multiple times, until Scots were forced to form a union with England because they were not able to market overseas with hostile relations with England. So they became this pseudo-"independent" kingdom under London's rule that continues to this day. When there was the independence movement a few years ago, almost half of the Scots wanted independence. Imagine living in a country where almost half the people don't want to be part of.

That, in turn, suggests that UK is a shaking pile of cards dominated and ruled by England. The rest are coping peasants.
