Well, credit where it's due, the Alyx guns are better and more sensible than anything else we've ever previously had in Half-Life.

You do know you have to load the autoloader as well right? Who am I kidding, of course you don't. I doubt you've even played the game.
I wouldn't mind HL3 being 2D. I feel like if you're playing as Gordon in HL3 you're not gonna want to play as slowly or as meticulously as you have to play as Alyx in HLA, and VR isn't good for that anyway. For example HL1 in VR is awful because the maps and weapons weren't designed for it.

HL1's MP5 and Glock were fairly "sensible" however. The only oddity was that the former has the design of an MP5SD but it isn't suppressed.

I think canonically it was just Gordon flipping semi-auto and somehow double-tapping so fast that it seemed like one shot. More than a few mods and things like Black Mesa ran with the idea at least.

I like trains as much as I like guns. That is I like watching them, listening to them, but I can't take sticklers who know every model number and inctricacy by heart and will talk their ass off for hours about some engine's history.
I have a pirated version of alyx. I would have the occasional stutter fps drops with my 4gb rx 580 and odyssey plus. I chalked it up to the low VRAM. Im refusing to play any more VR until i get a better GPU.

The best part about Alyx's combat is the fact that it is VR. The worst part about Alyx's combat is that the combine are tanky and low in number. I hope someone does a good rebalance mod for the campaign to make the pace of combat a bit faster and more lethal, so people who aren't VR casuals can have a better time.

definitely a two-round burst in hl1. you can hear two shots going off in sequence, something similar to the burst on the an-94 rifle. possible irl, but complicated.
not sure about hl2 shotgun, it sounds like two shots going off simultaneously. however, i'm willing to assume it's some kinda combine space magic hyperburst mechanism inside.

Actually the auto loader is practically just a magazine extension for the shotgun because you still have to manually put shells into the auto loader. No interaction is removed, it's just changed from "put shells in top 2 at a time" to "put shells into side".
That was everyone's complaint about the campaign. The combine are really fun to shoot but there's not nearly enough of them.
At least there's quite a few custom maps like Overcharge that do it justice.

This map is how I wish more combine encounters played out, I swear they lowered the health of the combine for this map to make it flow better too.

In this the combine rush at your position to kill you and have shitloads of them coming at you at once. In the main alyx campaign though it takes like 6 headshots to kill a combine when it should take half that but there should be double the amount of combine. Valve could learn a lot from light gun games like Time Crisis and House of the Dead, where enemy prioritization is based on enemy type, like how you want to prioritize red suits cause they're the biggest threat in time crisis.
Alyx needs to cut her fingernails.
