How come we never discuss the original Splinter Cell?

Why did they take the wall jump out?

Zig Forums doesn't like talking about good games.

I haven't played it yet. Recently brought the collection for PS3 though.

Know that you can use the diversion and sticky cameras to knock people out and you can pick them back up to reuse. It's absolutely overpowered and you will never have to use airfoil rounds or sticky shockers ever again.

Because you can beat the game easily without it. I honestly forgot it existed and only realized after I beat it that, "oh yeah, that was in the tutorial".

MAKE WAY, GOAT COMING THROUGH

its one of the weird anomalies where everybody loves it on release and yet it receives no discussion. much like the nearly forgotten GRAW series. Chaos Theory just renders the first two games completely obsolete and they really couldn't compete with MGS in design.

Recently played SC1 for the first time and I gotta say that that last level is fucking amazing.

basically everything it did was expanded, improved or simply overcome by Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory. it's like being confused as to why people don't talk much about TImesplitters 1 versus 2 and Future Perfect

My favourite splinter cell game of all of them. I played it earlier this year via xbox back compat and I'll play it again on series x in all that 4k HDR glory on my fresh new lg oled tv. One of the best games ever made.

I was playing the original 3 games back to back recently and honestly, the first two games just feel way better to play and move around as Sam. I started playing Chaos Theory again after beating the first two games and I was disappointed by how awkward it felt to control Sam and they removed the camera knockouts so I never used the underbarrel attachments much, still love the game though.

Lot of trial and error. Especially bad in the original console versions with only checkpoint saves

It's overshadowed by Chaos Theory, which also isn't discussed nearly enough.

>want to replay a game
>remember THAT part

no one on here is old enough to remember it

This

People don't talk about the first one because CT was objectively and subjectively superior in every way.

That part is really easy after you do it once and it only takes like 3 minutes.

Can we please discuss Splinter Cell 1 and Pandora Tomorrow in this thread only? Just for one day.

18 years old here. I beat Chaos Theory back in 2015 and then beat the original and Pandora Tomorrow last Summer.

I remembe4 when I first got home with CT I felt like Sam was way to close to the screen and I couldn't see anything, but as I got the hang of it I realized it was vastly superior and more intuitive thant the predecessors.

Splinter Cell 1 is pure kino.
What's your favorite mission anons?
For me, it must be the Chinese Embassy (2).

It's definitely not easy, it's definitely the hardest part of the game, the guards can kill you literally instantly if you're playing on a real man's difficulty
Pandora is way better than the first one. Although the first game has a certain comfiness that the sequels never achieved again.

>no Pandora Tomorrow on Steam
owning the rest of the games besides Blacklist and that PSP one, how was PT?

PT is just like the first one, with QoL improvements and slightly worse missions.
Worth playing if you really like Splinter Cell.

The multiplayer is what made PT amazing. The single ayer is just okay, I can't even really remember the story.

I was going for 100%ing every single level on hard so the hardest part for me in the game was the second half of South Korea which sucked hard and the second half of Bathhouse after the explosion, although ironically, the bomb defusal sequence was one the easier parts of Bathhouse for me.

Chaos Theory is the type of sequel that mogged the original game so goddamn hard that there's really no reason to discuss it. It's been made totally obsolete.

Its a borderline movie game with how linear and scripted it is, feels like I'm following the developers directions rather than playing myself.

The first splinter cell is actually my favorite, although CT is a close 2nd.

If you think Splinter Cell is a movie game then basically every linear shooter ever made is a movie game.

Cheers for the tip, user.

This.

>Try to hack laptop I know I'll need to get into later since I'm replaying it
>Can't even interact
>Come back later
>Interact prompt appears

Compare that to CT where they just dump you on an open map and you do it however you want. They needed more levels like the bank though.

i beat this entire game with the PC shadow glitch without realizing anything was wrong. i thought you were just supposed to eyeball the spotlights. i still managed to do it anyway but fuck me. apparently its gotten a patch since then?

Let the OP discuss his game anons, keep the sequel out of this.

Still gay and not a good reason to remove something

i was too young to play it when it was fresh, but i was aware of it and knew it looked fucking badass. playing it recently as an adult was like completing an old promise to my little kid self gawking at the demo in target

I enjoyed bank but it was way too easy, probably because it was so open and the guards were quite sparse. There wasn't much challenge even on my first try. I personally think that Displace Headquarters did a better job of balancing level openness with a challenge.
