Everyone knows the Series S won't actually run games at 1440p right? Even 1080p won't be realistic in most cases.
Developers will target 1440p on PS4/Xbox One Series X. Series S will get lazy downgrades to 900p along with further graphical downgrades and framerate cuts. Third-party developers won't want to spend months getting their AAA game performing well on a budget gimp-box.
The Xbox One received enough bad downgrades and that was a baseline console only slightly slower than PS4.
I have a Series X pre-ordered. People are just delusional and have bought into Microsoft BS.
Unless it sells gangbusters (i.e. outsells the PS5 and XBSeX combined), no-one except first-parties will target the Series S. Instead, they will downgrade, which usually results in shitty experiences.
Jayden Edwards
>I have a Series X pre-ordered. Yeah snoy, then why do you state the obvious?Everybody knows Series S is for the casuals and they won't notice. The machine will be fine for 1440p30fps or 60 in select games (all the cods and fifas have laughably low min requirements for a reason). If you are a "HARDCORE" (lol) gamer then you will buy the SeX or the PS5.
And the S can easily sell very well.
Camden Jones
Casuals will notice and they won't want a gimped console where games look bad and run like shit either.
The Series S won't do 1440p in practice - it will generally do 900p with further downgrades, and some games will have choppy framerates.
People really want to believe the PS5/Xbone will do 4K - they won't, they will downgrade to push graphics. Fuck, Demon's Souls is a PS5 launch title and is already running at 1440p.
Devs aren't going to put a fuckton of effort to ensure games run well on the Series S unless it sells ridiculously well
Isaiah Reyes
Don't buy it then?
Henry Cook
The Xbox One is doing 900p in most games right now and casuals don't notice.
Isaac Allen
1. The comparison is with 1080p. When the comparison is with 1440p, it will be much more noticable. And that won't be the only downgrade either.
2. Multiplat game sales on PS4 are generally around 2x that of the Xbone, and this is a major reason for it - games look and perform better on PS4.
Joseph Rodriguez
>rockstar managed to get 4k/30 fps in rdr2 on xbox one x two fucking years ago It's all on the devs. The hardware Is always capable all around. The problem Is that devs dont give a shit.
Blake Davis
>major reason for it lol then PS5 is dead because SeX is stronger It isn't the reason. The reason is that XBO buried itself at the start of the generation and PS4 snowballed from there.
Hunter Russell
1080p at 4K screen will still look good, because for every rendered pixel there are 4 invidual pixels.
Easton Ramirez
>S can easily sell very well >preorders still available in many countries >shitty storage and hardware makes it obsolete at launch and it will probably be unsupported in 2 years to avoid holding back the X for developers once actual new gen games start being released
Ian Rivera
Series S doesn't sell well for now, because mommies and daddies have no need of preordering it. They'll buy it once they get on shelves as a cheaper gift console.
James Martin
want to get one but preorders are sold out. replacing my one x with it
Ian Thomas
>Everyone knows the Series S won't actually run games at 1440p right?
Everyone knows that PS5 and SeX won't run games at 4K right?
Christopher Powell
It seems clear to me that PS5 will be the target platform and the Series X will receive a few graphical upgrades.
As long as you're the target platform, you're fine. The problem with the Xbox One was that it was less popular (especially worldwide) AND weaker, so devs started targeting the PS4 and then downgraded. Something similar happened with the 360 vs the PS3 - the 360 ended up being the target (as the PS3 was late, underperformed due to price, and the architecture was a clusterfuck) so devs targetted the 360 then ported resulting in shitty ports.
The big problem with the Xbox One was that it was more expensive AND lower specs. They remedied the first with the Xbone S and then the latter with the Xbone X, but the X discouraged devs from shifting their target to the base Xbone to improve performance, so the situation never got better.
Jonathan Roberts
S is for casuals and they don't preorder. >probably be unsupported Now this is just straight up snoy anger.
Julian Green
They should but some people are gullible and will believe anything.
Alexander Sullivan
I don't even play on console lad, but do you seriously think devs will waste their time with the power of an X or PS5 to downgrade their games for a 12 retards who bought a series S?
even apple understood that your higher end phone has to be as powerful as the cheapest one to avoid fucking the entire product line, you're supposed to give extra features on the high end product, not make the low end version less powerful
Luke Stewart
I see the shitty port excuse a lot for the PS3 but the cell was simply a huge fucking mistake and a dead end. It was not made for video games.
Parker Smith
Jesus, it's not Switch. You are underestimating the console slightly.
Leo Wright
You're a fucking idiot have no idea how scaling works do you? Devs literally have to do NOTHING to put the same games on SeS. Its the same fucking game you dunce.
William Gutierrez
First the major difference between games now is the resolution and frame rate which is a thousand times easier to scale than games back then. Second the switch got 360p games of the current gen. Apparently it was worth it for the 12 people who bought a Switch for multiplats. Third I love how snoys pretend they are someone else to try to make people think there is a crowd who thinks like them. Series S will sell well because it is cheap and no amount of crying will change that.
Robert Gutierrez
>optimizing your software to run on different hardware doesn't require any effort, it's just scaling bro imagine being this retarded
William Fisher
Just aggressively cut down the resolution and maybe dial back texture quality and raytracing quality and it’s good.
Hudson Anderson
The performance gulf between the Series S and the Series X is about the same as between the Switch and the PS4.
Robert Russell
>it's still available for preorder in europe in several countries >polls show no one cares about series S >600gb storage
as I said I don't even play on console, I'm just amused by you autists coping so hard
there hasn't been a single instance in modern history of this strategy working out
nintendo didn't make the switch lite less powerful, apple abandoned the concept of making iphones with different power after a single failed attempt, even MS didn't make the all digital xbox one S less powerful
Mason Russell
Sonybro here.
The PS5 and XboxX are both a fucking shit show.
I'm buying a SeS. There's no point in buying a PS5 because all the games are coming out on PS4 any and only complete fucking autists can spot the difference.
I'm buying SeS for gamepass and the all the exclusives Microsoft now have going forward.
At least I'm only throwing £249 down the shitter as opposed to £500.
>First the major difference between games now is the resolution and frame rate which is a thousand times easier to scale than games back then. You'll get games with lower resolutions, worse textures and lower framerates. Some devs will ensure their games still play well, but others simply won't give a shit, so you'll end up with an ugly choppy mess.
>Second the switch got 360p games of the current gen. Apparently it was worth it for the 12 people who bought a Switch for multiplats. The Switch didn't get many current-gen ports, though, and lots of them were bad. I mean, there's no CoD, Assassin's Creed or Frostbite FIFA.
The main difference between the Switch and SeS is that the latter uses the same dev platform/architecture as the main consoles and Microsoft will make ports mandatory.
Jason Ward
>there's no CoD, Assassin's Creed or Frostbite FIFA.
I'm just glad that I can expect 60 fps for open world games now.
Isaiah Foster
>600GB You see this is why you shouldn't talk about things you don't know. You make a lot of assumptions and when it comes to the only fact you want to argue with it turns out you simply don't even know it has an 512GB SSD. Pretty obvious thing yet you missed it. I wonder what else did you pull out of your ass.
Jackson Cruz
>Get it through your idiotic baby skull: next gen games will NOT offer better performance or graphical fidelity than current gen. What? MS and Sony aren't releasing $500 upgrades that they lose money on to offer no recognisable upgrades for end-users, you fucking idiot.
Using a rush-released glorified expansion pack that shamelessly recycles last-gen assets to "prove" that is fucking ridiculous.
Cameron Fisher
FIFAfags and CoDfags won't care. Console players won't care. If they actually cared about resolution or framerates they were actually playing on PC than anything else. Dilate.
Jeremiah Watson
I've got normalfag friends that play shit like Assassins Creed, CoD, and WoW. Graphics is something they never touch on, the only time they hint at performance is when they complain that a game is a glitchy and a jaggy low framerate piece of shit. A lot of them don't dwell on it either, they spend more time talking about cars, at least my coworker friend circle does.
