Recently I was thinking about sorta the meta narrative of DDLC after watching one of my favorite youtubers play though it. And thinking about it, if the plot is about a sentient being who wants to escape a dating sim but ends up destroying her friends and herself in the process, then wouldn't the best ending be just to mod it?
Because the narrative revolves around it being a game, if you install a mod that adds a happy ending than in the meta narrative that would mean that either Monika is reprogramed to come to terms with her sentience or that she is no longer sentient which would mean that no one would suffer.

But the canon of the game acknowledges that it is a game. Deleting Sayori or Monika in the first act gives you another ending, the game already responds to player action.
So therefore wouldn't that make all mods cannon, since all mods would be the player changing the meta narrative game?

DDLC doesn't have a universe though. The plot of the game is that it's just some small dating sim in which one character happens to be sentient.
So since everything in the game is already just a game anything added to it by the player would fit in with the meta narrative because you added it in

Nah just your average drama before splitting up as far as i know.
I know for a fact the animator for those shorts does porn and was doing some 3d adventure time porn game before removing the porn when tumblr threw a shitfit over it back when tumblr was still a thing.
