What makes Civilization 5 the greatest civ game?
What makes Civilization 5 the greatest civ game?
...what? It is certainly not better than 3 or 4. It is absolutely garbage compared to Alpha Centauri. I think the only Civ games that are worse than 5 is 6 and the saturn port of 1.
2>4>3>6>1>Rev>5
Civilization 2 is the greatest Civilization game.
Civilization 4 being equally good but a bit to easy.
6 is better than 5 in almost every way
vanilla civ 5 isn't that great
vox populi mods however do make it pretty good
V is absolute fucking garbage and the tall meme is the worst thing to happen to the series. All other games are much better.
So Civ 6 is only the third worse Civ game then.
Vox Populi makes Civ 5 playable. Not good, but playable. VP in many ways magnifies many of Civ 5's weaknesses, while at the same time trying, but failing, to mitigate others. You should definitely not play Civ 5 without, but maybe you really shouldn't play Civ 5 at all.
it fixes most things wrong with V
no more global happiness only and wide is as viable as tall
I prefer 6 these days, but I will always hold 5 as peak comfy
>Gorgeous landscape graphics, beautiful green forests between snow-capped mountains besides sparkling blue oceans look great
>Art-deco UI and art style very easy on the eyes
>Gentle music and sound effects
>The soothing tones of the late William Morgan Shepard
6 is lightyears ahead of 5 wtf are you on about? With GS and the last expansion pack it's def on par with 4.
shame that pastures don't get visual upgrades with eras like several other improvements
It does not fix the 1upt design flaw and actually makes it a bigger problem since VP wants you to have a much bigger army than vanilla. Research is way too fast compared to production especially in the newest version. Playstyles are just as limited as vanilla, with science victory completely impossible as tall and cultural victory completely impossible as wide, once again, especially in the new version. Warfare is still tedious and not worth it at all.
The only thing V has over VI is diplomatic victory and World Congress. Otherwise, 6 is great. And V doesn't have shitty natural disasters. That shit is just pointless busywork.
>there is no way to play civ v multiplayer with mods
why can't I play Hitler vs Stalin with my buddies?
nice aspect ratio dude
>I prefer 6 these days, but I will always hold 5 as peak comfy
I just can't accept the art style of 6, it looks like a free to play mobile game.
5 fucking sucks. i dont get why its praised so highly. theres absolutely no depth to it, even 6 is better
it looks like shit but its head and shoulders above 5 in every other way
I suck at this game. I really have no idea what the fuck I'm supposed to do
It looks the best, and it's mechanics are deep without being too focused on micro management.
civ 5 has no deep mechanics whatsoever.
Not at all.
>6's graphics are worse
>6 has a worse UI
>6's new mechanics require much more micro without adding more depth
>6 has more exploits
>6 has worse leader picks
I bounce between 5 and 6 nowadays. There are things both games do better than the other. The only one I ever played are 3 and beyond earth, but only a little each.
4 and 6 are better tho.
It has depth, you just never bothered learning how to maximize your great person generation or learn how to use faith in the late game.
Plus one unit per tile made it so combat formed actually front lines making war more strategic than it ever had been before
Shit and plebeian taste.
Mechanics don't need to be confusing and difficult to understand to be have depth.
Great people points and complex resource exploitation are very in depth it's just that they are seemingly simple on the surface
What about Revolution 2?
i want my advisors back!
Who's your favorite civ in 5?
For me the Shoshone are the most fun, the increased borders and path finders are great fun in the early game.
Though Spain can be very fun as well if you get a good wonder
Mongols when you get horse archers though they are pretty OP. It's just fun to steamroll through your neighbors quickly
also
>6 has shittier unit designs
>6 has lesser units variety
>6 has lesser technology variety
>6 has lesser buildings variety
>6 has lesser variety in general
music is also bland but that's imho
also this
and let's not forget how they changed movement in civ 6 for no reason.
In Civ 5 if you had used on of your movement points already, you could still move into rought terrain, this made movement thoughtful and allowed for strategic positioning that really helped with the new frontline style of conflict that Civ 5 brought with one unit per tile
You can turn them off. I think they're fun, they look good and can give you some absolutely monster tiles.
>one unit per tile
I'm still not sure about this. This limitation just doesn't make it for me. I understand it eliminates carpets and stacks of doom but man did I love to stack and sort my armies in one tile, without visually polluting map like the nowadays.
