It wasn't just Fallout 76. Skyrim is mediocre compared to Morrowind and Oblivion, and Fallout 4 was just dull compared to 3 and New Vegas. Fallout 3 to me only has a better general aesthetic/color theme than 4. Fallout 4 was way too bright but is still overall better than fallout 3 in my opinion. New Vegas is a better game than both but the jank is eternal. To me, the only reason Fallout 76 was amazingly bad was because of the focus on multiplayer. If they focused on making a single player spin-off, it would have probably been much better.
