After what they did to Lance's MVs Gunlance doesn't even need the "Gun" part to do more damage than Lance

>muh dps

jumplance best lance

Yeah, it's still fun but every IB monster is an ADHD spazz that won't stand still. I swear if I switched to some soiboi weapon I could cut hunting times in half.

I might actually try putting together a DS set or something...

FUNLANCE

Lance counter attacks should be doing 3 times the damage

Gunlance is just more fun for me

You got filtered by the gunlance? It's not exactly hard to use.

>mains lance
oh.

>has no reason to exist because of the cb

Attached: 1601365940382.png (474x474, 226.58K)

It's not hard to use, it's just shit. a badly designed weapon whose main gimmick is to actually ignore its gimmick for optimal damage outputs and proper weapon usage. It's basically been like this in every single game its been in.

>Lance should be doing 3 times the damage
FTFY

why do lance and gunlance not have guard points?

Bitch please, CB is one of my mains and I really don't like SnS, but what you said is incredibly stupid.

What is a guard point by definition?

I used to main GL, but I'm not actually sure I know hoe to use it in any MonHun I've played.
At the same time, I always hear that shelling is useless, so maybe using it wrong is more fun.
What's with shitter monsters getting amazing armor designs?

What? But lance's damage is fine.

>Metafagging in a pve game.
Embarassing

>But lance's damage is fine.

Yes but only once you get fatalis lance and also for some retarded reason it was actually nerfed in elem damage even if it's not that significant it's still retarded.

best i can explain is they're animations frames where you'll absorb and counter a bit of damage when hit by a monster. You also stand your ground like you would be guarding. Charge Blade has these, GL used to have it in GU but it was sadly removed in Iceborne

Counter have one of the highest "guard" out of all blocks lance has. Air shield dash has a almost unbreakable block too. Though you will either need a slope or a ledge for that luxury.

have you only played world?

For now sadly yes...

So like armored attacks in fightan? Is this a thing in weapons besides Charge Blade? Wanting to get back into the series

it's a bit hard to explain
youtube.com/watch?v=gPc90az3HC0&ab_channel=gaijinhunter
watch this if you want a better understanding, or dont, you do you

Oh no
>kills monster
Anyways any news about Rise?

What absolutely stupid design
No fucking way someone could hold something so big. The ammo would be impossible to cary too
Mh is straight garbo

I understand now. I just wasn't sure if it was full absorbtion.

they're not attacks, its when you have your shield in front of you with the charge blade during certain animations. In GU the gunlance got a guard point during the quick reload and made the weapon so much more fun than it already is.
watch if you're interested

Gunlance now has a Guard Point when you load Slinger Ammo into the GL itself. But it's not very good.

>not a new IP

I dunno if you can even attack out of it, or if it's just there to make the loading animation a bit safer

i know, it's my main weapon. Honestly would prefer like a Shield slinger boost that gave you GU guard points during quick reload or something

>backhops through your post
>perfect rushes you for 2500 damage

>But lance's damage is fine.

>not liking explosions

it's like you don't like FUN

>hit the monster twice
>an entire level of sharpness lost

I've wasted my life here for 12 years now and in all that time I have never seen a post gayer than this

If you time it right, and the stars align, and the monster stops moving in front of you for like 5 seconds, you can Guard Point the attack, and sticky the monster with the WyrmStake in one full motion.

I'm not sure I'll ever be able to go back to gunlance after generations ultimate, valor style was just too good

>Entire gameplay comes down to spamming that same shitty combo through the entire fight
What an abominable weapon, if you want to do big damage just play Greatsword so you can have fun while doing it

>hitting the monster with a gun
What did you expect

to be fair shelling damage doesn't care about your sharpness

>GS user mocking others for spamming the same shitty combo the entire fight
????????

How the fuck do I git gud at greatsword bros
I'm a hammerlet, all I can do is bonk, so I want to use a big brain weapon like greatsword but it's so fucking hard Jesus Christ how do gs niggers do it

Attached: battler crying.jfif.jpg (200x252, 12.11K)

It does in MHW.

I know this is bait but this "all video games must be realistic" meme has to go

no it doesn't

>big brain weapon
>greatsword
hammer is unironically harder to use effectively

honestly, as a lance main in previous games, world cooled me on it in a major way. For the vast majority of monsters, the weapon is just beyond boring to use with all the counters, guards and guard dodges where you're never under any kind of threat. And then there's a couple of other monsters that just end up being a humongous pain in the ass to fight. Like Deviljho which I loved to fight in 3 for instance but can't be arsed to in World because of his retarded pin attack or basically any monster with a spammable AOE chipping damage attack. Brain dead easy or fucking annoying. world lance a shit.

The lower your sharpness the less damage your Shelling does. 100%.

>Great sword
>Big brain
Play horn

It does but it's pretty negligible

GS is unironically less clunky and shit to use than SnS

Deviljho is an easy piece of shit in World, it can't even trample anymore. the pin attack is also easy to avoid. I struggled fighting it in Tri and I played World before I played Tri.

Isn't that only once you get down to orange/red sharpness?

You didn't buy iceborne right?

oh my mistake, the damage is only affected if you ever go below green sharpness which is never so that's why I thought sharpness didn't affect it because you'll literally never reach it with a decent set

Of course I did.

Then why did you not play lance in iceborne?

it's okay to be wrong without insisting that you're still right anyway

>guard slash
>third triangle combo
>shield bash combo
capcom please just remove this stupid garbage from the game, the weapon would be perfect without them because they're all just accidental inputs that NO ONE wants to actually do

tackle

i wish power guard would stop knockbacks from icebreath and other shit, is not fun to get pushed to the other side of the arena 3 times in a row when fighting at velkhana or alatreon

If you don't play GS, LS, SA, HH, or Hammer, your opinion on the game is worthless.

If you hit Red, you can't Shell anymore. At orange, absolutely you're doing less damage.

I believe in Iceborne you start losing Shelling damage at Blue. Perhaps even White, although that would be a very small drop off. Regardless, it's still pretty easy to hit Green Sharpness in the middle of a fight, especially if you're running Normal Shell types. Unless you're running Razor Sharp.

I've fought every monster as lance and haven't had any problems with them.
Except one: Tempered Furious Rajang. That fucker does more chip damage than Fatalis, it's almost impossible to effectively fight him with lance.
In conclusion: fuck Tempered Furious Rajang. That is all.

GS is the clunkiest weapon in any MH game. What the hell are you even talking about?

Friendly reminder that you're carrying an unending clip of shells for your gunlance and the following:
At least 2 human sized barrels filled to the brim with gunpowder
At least a belt with twenty 700ml potions
Dozens of assorted bottles and rations
A pouch with various bombs and shit
A fishing rod
Two hunting mantles
Trinkets and baubles
Ten family sized cooked steaks
Ten family sized raw steaks
A cooked sausage
A hunting book
An omega blue sharpness carving knife
A complete set of armor weighting at least half your weight
Binoculars
A smart camera
A cage with infinite fireflies
A cat toy
A pickaxe
A net
Two primed trap kits
A bag filled with random monster parts
Another bag with a thousand ammo shells for the bowgun

Fatalis doesn't do that much chip dmg to be quite honest.

git gud

>YAY EXPLOSIONS WEEEEEEEE
Christ.

wdym
I just bonk. AFAIK hammer doesn't have any deep strategy or combinations of combos behind it, it's more about being able to bonk. That's how I've been doing it.
no
I can't fucking get my charges up while tackling through monster attacks and outputting good damage
it's so goddamn difficult I can't git gud uooooooh

Yes
