Since this is a Persona thread can I ask genuinely what the fuck we're supposed to disagree with on Adachi?
Like seriously the entire fucking game of Persona 4 up until the last fight with him only serves to prove him right both in literal and in meta sense.
Every single one of the MC's friends, both in his party and in his confidants, stumbled upon him by sheer luck and chance and he just so happen to have the natural talent AND the right personality to help them with their problems which is an extremely rare thing in life to begin with.
Adachi's actions were deplorable on a moral level, sure. But his logic and reasoning for him devolving to that state within the game is completely and utterly justified especially when you consider the fact that the game actively tries to dissuade you from maxxing his rank out before hand.

I feel like they were actually going somewhere with him but at some point in development realized that they actually made him "too correct" and just ended up having the answer be literally "muh friendship."

Because everyone who hasn't suffered from traumatic experiences or parental/lover neglect thinks that the golden rule of "You're number one to yourself and only you are responsible for your happiness!" is the answer to everything even though that exact mindset is what's literally destroying the entire planet.

Beyond him trying to fuck Ann, he literally did not do anything wrong on a moral level. The only reason why he was a villain in the game was because he was setup as a personal obstacle for the player to get over. Beyond that in a normal and natural setting the dude is just a regular guy with a few vices but otherwise extremely well put together.
I mean seriously compare Kamoshida to literally every other fucking character in the game besides Makoto. Kamoshida's worst sin was being into teenagers and not dealing with Ryuji's very clear and blatant anger issue that is consistently brought up multiple times in the game and even gets the PT in trouble a few times.

Just to give you a close example, Kawakami was literally a fucking sex worker who ended up killing one of her own students due to her simply not notifying the police of parental abuse because she was too afraid to do so. She then proceeds to take this out on her class and students later on and then on top of that neglects her teacher duties until a fucking 17 year old tells her she's being a dysfunctional loser and she starts realizing that she's victimizing herself to feel bad about something that she could have solved years ago. She then proceeds to hit on the minor, let him skip class and depending on whether or not you romance her, literally has sex with you and breaks the actual law in doing this.

Kamoshida is a fucking saint compared to that but again you can only observe that when you remove the fact that the game served you Kamoshida as an obstacle and enemy.

The vast majority of humans cannot think or introspect beyond a very basic level of contemplation and unfortunately these games need to appeal to a large audience otherwise they will simply not make enough money.

If we lived in a world where niche games could still exist Adachi would have probably turned into a good guy or at the very least would have had some sort of redemption arc with Yu.

Adachi’s issue is that he blames everyone else for his own problems when he should be blaming himself. He says people with talent are the luckiest people in the world and that he got screwed over but when he wins the lottery and his chosen by a god the first thing he does is immediately misuse that power. He is the cause of his own problems. The IT don’t have to disprove his arguments because his own actions already do
