Just finished the trilogy, what a horrible ending

It's not as bad as it was, but yes it's awful.

When I first finished ME3, I had no fucking idea what was going on and just walked into the synthesis ending by accident. And that is by far the dumbest most non-sense version of the ending.

Reminder: There is only game.

I disagree, it was exactly as bad as it was

Yes and it's Mass effect 2.

ME3s entire plot completely disregarded the buildup in ME2. They went for an ending not only filled with plot holes, but is in essence a huge logical fallacy. To top it all off, they did a shitty job executing that ending, essentially sidelining every choice ever made, and went for a cookie cutter 3-pronged approach to wrap up the trilogy, killing the franchise in the process.

It is slightly recoverable with an ending mod + citadel epilogue. But if they ever wanted to see the franchise revived, they would have to embrace the superior indoctrination theory.

>buildup in ME2.
There isn't a buildup of anything, it's a bunch of completely disconnected stories and a copy of the smoking fuck from x-files.
ME1 had an actual story and buildup.

I like it with the DLC

Remember when this series was a major concern. God that was a long time ago.
Just think, instead of playing Mass Effect you could have been mining bitcoin, and you'd be rich enough now to commission your own space rpg.

I think he means before the added slideshow at the end
It used to just play the final cutscene and end
at least now there's """closure"""

Well, not really. Mass effect 2 is way more relevant than Me1, considering that in ME3 you spend most of your time solving the messes of the ME2 characters.

Mordin's dilemma regarding the cure of the Krogan, a thing introduced in Me2.
The Geth and Quarian with Legion coming from Me 2 proving that there is an alternative.
Liara Shadow Broker from the events of Me2.
ecc ecc

Honestly found extended cut made some things worse.
Rushing down Harbinger now has a nonsense scene of Shepard taking the time to call in evac for his 2 squaddies while everyone else is rushing for their lives 100 feet away from the beam, with the entire Normandy parking there for a moment.

Control Ending Shepard gets a damn good speech though.

Weird thing to post on Zig Forums - Video Games

People love to say how horrible ME3's story was (and it was pretty bad), but I think ME2 shares some of the blame.
ME2 was like an episode in a long-running series. Nothing happened. It didn't even have to involve the reapers and it would still work. "Someone are kidnapping humans, go stop it". Oh, it turns out it was the reapers - and at the end Shepard believes that the reapers are a threat, nobody believes him, and they're moving closer - just like the end of ME1.
Where the fuck do you go from there? ME3 had to pack a lot of plot into one game, since ME2 did fuckall. And yes, it could have been done much, much better, but ME2 tends to get a free pass when it comes to bad plots.
ME2 should have been about the Cerberus getting Shepard to find the weapon they could use against the reapers, with the underlying threat that you're giving the most powerful weapon in the galaxy to a bunch of radicals. Set it up so everyone thinks you have enough time to build the weapon before the reapers arrive, then end the game by having them arrive earlier than expected. There, ME3 can build upon that, instead of going "oh, btw, we found the anti-reaper weapon somewhere - let's not talk about that".

It's not a bad ending, I don't understand why people cry. You have 4 options and of course the series was going to end when dealing with the reapers. As simple as that.

The ending has ruined the rest of the trilogy for me. I can't really stomach playing ME1 any more because I know it ends so poorly and the reapers have such a silly motivation. I can just about tolerate ME2 because it feels so divorced from the main plot it may as well have been a spin-off

I will never forget the sheer pain before the extended cut when I saw this on screen

>You have 4 options
>4

i thought there was 3

I've heard the steam version of this game doesn't run so well, how well does it run if i buy it on origin?

Extended Cut added in the "Refusal Ending", where Shepard just refuses to use the Crucible, Reapers kill everyone, the next cycle gets Liara's time capsule message and wins.
Basically a FU to any player who didn't like the choices, and now shooting the Star Child in gameplay triggers it.

Which ending is the best one?

Objectively the Control ending, as long as the newly born Shepard-Reaper AI doesn't eventually turn evil tyrant.
...probably will eventually.

Otherwise the Destroy ending to rid the galaxy of Reapers forever, even if it comes at a temporary cost.

>Objectively the Control ending

Is that because the destroy ending wipes out the synthetics you fought to save?

The Citadel and Mass Relays also do not violently explode in Control, so Shepard is able to fix them up in a jiffy.

Destroy no question. Synthesis is horrible, forcing trillions of lifeforms to be merged with machine via space magic. Control is just as bad, Shepard is a soldier not a ruler, dictator or whatever else. They're best at shaping armies and fighting. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Further consider that Synthesis and Control were the goals of indoctrinated traitors the Illusive Man and Saren. Then Control and Synthesis lead to Shepard basically dying and living an eternity as some monstrosity of biological and mechanical mass. Destroy is the only ending Shepard remains human and normal and alive.

Fuck the Reapers, fuck the Star child, fuck the clankers.

Yeah but then Edi and the Geth don't survive

>he killed millions to save billions
Destroy is the most logical ending.

yeah but that shits on the peace between the quarians and the geth that you busted your ass for

Your first mistake was playing Ass Effect. When 3 first came out the shitstorm was amazing. 7 years later I still think of the franchise as garbage just because of that ending and Andromeda being a notorious flop didn't help either.

Machines aren't people.

I kinda like the endings

So?

i played it with mods and low expectations because i've already been told that the ending wasn't very good, i had a pretty good experience in general.

This here user has the right idea. Didn’t even have to think twice to choose Destroy. Surviving it was merely a welcome surprise and added bonus.

What kinda mods?

which is better the mass effect trilogy, or the witcher trilogy?

Funny thing is,
It would have just FINE is it just ended with pic related.
Would it still have very shit parts (like side missions and Kai Leng)? Definitely,
but it wouldn't be remembered as THAT bad.
>Crucible goes off, killing the reapers
>Shep and Anderson bleeding on the Citadel
would have been fine, but we instead got a shitty exposition dump from the fucking who? Star Child

It's worse. At least original had indoctrination theory.

No that's Gears of War

Realistically there was no way to defeat Reapers.

>the last words of the trilogy are 'DLC'
>follow up with a frostbite SJW tech demo
>kills the studio

Based

That can be taken with anything. You can be doing x instead of doing y. Life is how you choose it to be.

it was a while ago but i recall using
>EGM
>JohnP's MEHEM
>ME3 recalibrated
>back off
