it's p2w
trash
>decent early-mid game
>getting to late game is quick enough
>lots of endgame content
>too much stuff to do, so narrow your possibilities
>wiki ruins more than it helps the game enjoyment
>group bosses suck if you dont have friends, the community expects you to be a tryhard.
>the value is ok, nothing special
>pretty much a single player game with some online component
>community is a bit autistic, but there are some decent people
>stay off reddit or /vg/ threads - it's mostly complaining
It's pretty good. Incredibly grindy but has more content than you will ever be able to get through. Reddit hates it because of the monetization but it's not nearly as bad as they want you to think. Osrs is great too
The monetization isn't too bad from a gameplay perspective but it is extremely fucking obnoxious, it feels like playing a mobile game where they're just constantly reminding you that you could be spending money instead of playing even though you technically don't have to
>RS3
jagex dont give a shit about this game anymore and it shows which is a shame because the endgame pvm is actually pretty good
just play osrs instead of you want to click rocks for a while
you are 16 years too late user
A lot of the older quest content is like a point and click adventure with fun characters and British humour, so if that sounds appealing you would be better off playing old school runescape. The new game is way more packed with content but the experience is more cookie cutter mmo in terms of gameplay.
The subscription price kills it.
you could buy tons of good games with it.
OSRS
>$11
such as?
Portal 2, terraria, L4D2, HL2, Hotline miami, dishonored, Dont starve, fallout new vegas, undertale, HL1, paper's please, FTL, Saints row 3, bioshock infinite, titanfall 2, limbo, psychonauts, deus ex HR, etc.
These games cost on average $11 and will provide on average, 40 hours of gameplay. (completitionist).
The leyword here is variety. RS is only worth subbing to if you play more than that in a month.
For furries and trannies (literally and not in a meme way)
Play OSRS
someone explain to me what armour rating is and why a BCP is better than Bane armour? /rsg/ is useless
>Quick rundown?
its RS3, basically the TRUE Runescape but many fans of the MMO see it as EZ (Easy) Scape, its Jagex attempt at making Runescape more like WoW, lots of players weren't having it so they hopped to OSRS (OldSchool Runescape) also known as 2007scape
The main problems with RS3 is that it became very casual and not as grindy as the Runescape people remembered and loved, enjoy spinning the
prize wheel everyday for prizes and doing your daily missions to earn bonus EXP, the game is riddled with micro-transactions and cosmetics, combat became more afk, lots of pointless additional skills, some people do prefer it as its less grind intensive making it an easier version of the game you can play on and off
Give it a try or watch a youtube video explaining the difference between RS3 and OSRS, its just an old MMO trying to reach out to new players on steam
The reason people say to use bandos over smithed sets (except for masterwork) is because bandos is power armour, it gives a strength bonus which allows you to kill enemies faster, thus taking less damage overall.
>runescape.wiki
there's different armor types that have specific functions, like says, killing an enemy faster by hitting higher numbers or having a high offense to counter your low defense
It has the best quests out of all MMOs
This, to be honest. See pic related
Can you use steam wallet ot pay for membership for OSRS instead?
they told me tank armour is useless but wouldnt say why
RS3 is so unbelievably confusing even though I played runescape for 15 years. So much of the content is just dead.
sub fees are for niggers
i quite runescape something like 20 fucking years ago when they first put a sub fee on it
never looked back
though i do have fond memories of making cakes and shit in the cooking guild with the windmill
>they told me tank armour is useless but wouldnt say why
its better to use power armor so you do higher damage and your attacks are more accurate, tank armor is only good for survivability but not damage dealing, whats the point of having high defense but not enough offense to hit an enemy back?
are there loli races?
isnt that what your weapon is for?
because offense > defense in just about every situation
you take less damage from things when you kill them faster
Damage tends to be king in RS, especially since there are ways to turn damage into healing. Combine that with the way that tank armour doesn't really defend you that much better than power armour, means tank armour is pretty redundant outside of a couple specific circumstances.
I bought all my bonds with gold on osrs and I played for like 2 years. Mobile afk fish or something
What do you mean?
It's good enough if you play ironman to remove all microtransaction bullshit and excessive bonus xp. The problem is doing so then pulls away any community interaction, which admittedly isn't a big deal because everyone just idly plays the same fucking game they played 20 years ago.
It's pretty much unrivaled in the MMO world when it comes to sheer amount of content though.
It's good for pvp or if you're learning a boss.
RS3 is not casual if you factor in PvM. It's leagues ahead in terms of difficulty compared to OSRS.
The worst part about it are the death costs - since i chose to not read the wiki or watch guides, i often lose millions learning a single boss. It's kinda shitty, but you can always bring cheaper gear
Unfortunately, people got too comfortable. I see trannies and ed8rs on a regular basis.
>tank armour for learning a boss
great way to get into bad habits via tanking shit that would just kill you in your regular gear
>mobile
id sooner fucking kill myself than contaminate myself with mobile trash
>afk
ah yes, lets not play the game to play the game, great plan
the only playable race is humans freak
Why use a weapon with base stats in tank armor when you get bonus strength and higher attack bonuses with power armor at a slight cost of defense?
Im going to exaggerate here but I hope this will make it clearer, why use a mace with 40 crush and 40 weapon strength in tank armor when you can use that same mace in power armor for 60 crush and 60 weapon strength at the cost of lower defense than tank armor?
that's the gist of tank vs power armor
Ok others had explained it but I'll give the stat rundown.
Att: increase melee accuracy
Def: increase odds of your opponent missing, funny enough doesn't really outright make you tougher though. only effect magic defense by 30%
Range: same as att but with range attacks, may also increase range attack power, can't remember.
Magic: increase basically everything magic related including being 70% of your magic defense
Str: increase your highest possible hit.
HP: how many hits til you die
Prayer: perks that hopefully make you do better.
So for the best low level build you either going pure Str or magic. Everything else is shit. Range have potential but sadly cost a shit ton to do fresh. Assuming you have unlimited cash range is outright broken though enchanted bolts will most likely literally cost more per shot than anything you will get as loot.
Generally armor/weapon give you enough acc/defense for anything you may be doing assuming you wearing the right gear for the job (don't try to use magic wearing full plated armor for example). The only real stat you should care about is whatever increase your strength in the equipment menu, it is quite literally "how hard you can hit" the stat. Rest is up to RNG anyway.
then why not just...fight it in the better gear?
fucking dude, relax, he didnt need that
thats literally the point i was making retard-kun
Im not a noob, Ive been playing since 07. back then you just put on armour and saw it had better stats, like dragon or rune. Like the wiki wants me to put on armadyl armour over something like royal dragonhide, but I still take a shit ton of damage from waterfiends or most mages even with good range armour
>wiki
do yourself a favor and don't use it. Fuck what the sweaty tryhards say.
The game is way more enjoyable when you don't know shit and learn it yourself.
here's the thing - if i put on my power armor gear and get blasted, i'm paying 2M per attempt. And it takes me about 5-10 attempts to figure out what the boss does before i can farm it.
So that's why i use tanky gear, because the death costs are lower and it helps a bit.
not that user but why spend time gathering tank or hybrid armor when you can go for the superior power armors instead?
Use tank gear and you'll rely on tank gear, good luck doing content with other players and they see you roll up in tank armor while they're all wearing power
not trying to be rude but lots of the late game content expects power armor or not doing it at all
>OMG RUNESCAPE ON STEEEEAM WHO CARES IF IT'S BEEN AVAILABLE FOR YEARS IT'S ON STEEEEEEAM NOW I CAN MAKE SURE GABE GETS HIS CUT
well tankarmour has the higher number, so I thought itd be better. And bane plate and legs(+4) is like 7-800k, while bandos is 3-4m
Well the stats in terms of how they work haven't really changed. They changed armor tiers and try to make things overall balance even if it mean there are like 6 different full sets being effectively the same shit under a different skin. They try to make tank, power and hybird armors to combat that but just like how scimitars were the best back in the day due to having the fastest/highest dps it more or less the same with armor now. Just pick power type armor, hybrid if you lack any. Tank armor is worthless
