Build a real PC, that kind of power isn't meant for a portable form factor.
Yes
If you play on laptops, you shouldn't be playing the latest games, and you have to really lower your settings and FPS so it wouldn't get too hot.
I have a Zephrus G14 and it does make a 8C degree difference, absolutely recommend getting a cooler if yours runs hot to the touch
Op here. Can a cooler increase longevity of a laptop?
no, build a desktop if you want to play games
>buy gaming laptop for the convenience and small formfactor
>double the footprint for a reverse-griddle to force air into its suffocating chassis
Brilliant
I think coolers are for people who don't know their laptops need regular service: cleaning, dusting and changing thermal paste once a year. And if it's boiling hot right from the beginning consider to return this garbage.
Laptop coolers help but not by a lot. What's more important is the incline so hot air goes out the vents. If you want to make your laptop last, keep your temps 75c and below.
Just put the laptop on top of a book to prop it up.
that or a plain old kitchen cooling rack
as someone who used one on a school laptop for three years to csgo at 50fps, yes they do.
20$ for one on amazon

get something cheap to lift it off surfaces and improve airflow.
the fans on the cooler itself aren't really all that effective
This. It reminds me of those dipshits that buy ricer sports bikes and then bolt boxy panniers and cases on the back.

The fans do jack shit and nearly all of them are just made of shit plastic and gamer LEDs. As other posters have said the only advantage is lifting you laptop off of surfaces to give it better air flow. You're literally better off just getting some cardboard and making a cooler mat out of that, you can even make it a custom fit for your laptop while youre at it.
Should I put ice cubes next to the vent?
As most anons here are saying, the main advantage laptops coolers give is less the fans they have, and more just elevating the laptop for improved air flow that way
That being said, there is a 1-2 degree C difference on my laptop cooler (amazon.com
I imagine the moisture might cause problems
Maybe try freezing a bunch of rocks or metal cubes or something?
Yes it does. My laptop would shutdown playing any game if it got too hot, even with new thermal paste. Once I got a cooling pad it hasn't overheated once, also its on a raised platform at an angle so it's better for posture. Just get a desktop PC.
They work but when you're at that point you need to seriously consider other options. Playing games on a machine that is red hot and loud as a jet engine is a shit experience. Nothing will ever be silent, yes. Some people spend a lot of time outside the house, visiting friends, traveling for work or school, yes. But if you're at home most of the time and your main machine is a gaming laptop, you need to change your ways.
Yes, but you need to be careful. Particularly with the ones with stronger fans. The fans inside laptops are made to circulate air in a certain way. Forcing air into them unnaturally can mess up the fans over long-term use. It can off-balance them. And unlike desktops, those fans are usually soldered to something or other inside and have to be repaired by the manufacturer. The fans (blade component) themselves are held 'in place' by gravity and airflow. So when they're getting pushed up or bumped off their expected axis, they will start to wobble or grind against other things.
t. I do warranty repair work on Toshiba laptops.
How do I tell if the speed is too fast?
played for like 10 hours yesterday and occasionaly checked speccy, temp didn't go past 67C, this is a brand new laptop, am I good boys ?
no
cleaning your heatsink does
once a year at least
>thermal paste once a year
nigga pls
once every 3 years max
Lift it up so that there's airflow beneath it. Also
Arent business laptops good enough for older games and emulation these days?
Just use Geforce Now/Stadia is you have decent internet. It's cheap and it's great for single player games.
I have a tv stand with glass shelfs so I put one under my ps4 and my ps3 so they wouldn't get too hot.
Depends on the model but generally yes any business laptop with a recent ryzen (4000) or intel (9000/10000) cpu that's above budget level can do decent emulation for older consoles and can run a surprising amount of pc games at acceptable levels.
