GTA2 is the best and most underrated game of the series. It got totally eclipsed by GTAIII which came out less than 2 years later. I have so much nostalgia for this one.

It's the most dark and cynical GTA.

I liked the reputation system, and the oil slicks were fun in multiplayer.
The 3D GTA games are definitely the gold standard of freeroam sandbox games, but that genre is bloated now and you can get basically the same experience from other games.
GTA2 is very unique and there's been nothing out there like it since.

Most fucked up mission is where you lure gang members into the hotdogs factory. Grind them up into hotdogs and sell them to the rival members.
2 is good for multiplayer.

I played this game a lot, even when I had the PS2 and most of my friends were playing Vice City already. I really liked the gangs mechanic of the game.
