Why the fuck did they think that mastering the stages to a literally perfect degree should be anything more than bragging rights?
Why the fuck did they replace the Crash Dash with a shitty Triple Spin?
With the Crash Dash, all you have to do is hold the button, allowing you to give yourself a greater challenge as the player isn't used to that speed.
But the Triple Spin requires not only spamming the same button to the point where your thumb starts to hurt, but it also requires fucking RYTHYM FOR IT TO WORK IN THE FIRST PLACE.
One of the worst parts of Crash 4, second only to Not Tawna.

Way harder. With a game like CTR you have a lot more freedom in how you can approach things like dev times cause the tracks are wide af compared to a regular Crash level.

I had more fun doing the flashback tapes then trying to collect most of the horse shit in the game.
The difficulty is in how long the levels are. Making one mistake towards the end of a level is rage inducing.
Flashback tapes are kino. Classic music, funny dialogue, short but very challenging.

The Kaizo shit in Cortex Castle was fantastic.
Honestly, it's one of the best levels in the game, if not, the best level in the game.
Crash Landed is one of the best levels. It just annoys completionists because it’s awkward to get all the boxes with the hog wild sequences.
This coulda been a good level if they separated the alien dog bit and made it, it's own level.

It's just shit to control. It's not fun.
It annoys me more that the bear and alien control like crap and that the hitboxes on stacks of boxes are so miniscule you have to hit them dead center at an angle or you have to do it all over again. Hog Wild, Totally Bear and the Orient Express riding levels from 1-3 controlled fine and you never had any issues missing boxes. These are just horse shit and completely boggle down what could've been great levels and callbacks to the original trilogy. Between these, Rush Hour and other levels they created the worst in Crash history.
It’s a pain the first bunch of times you try it but once you know exactly where to jump it’s pretty easy
Same with the rest of the game, hard as fuck at first but once you learn the rhythm of the stages they become piss easy
Anything becomes second nature with repetition that doesn't make it any less of a pain in the ass to do.
It's literally speedrunner tier. The fact the Platinum times are so hard in this one is made even more bewildering when they have ANOTHER tier above it that covers the "This is for bragging rights" tier.

The general consensus of this game seems to be that it's fun if you don't bother going for the boxes, but fuck trying to 100% it. Completing the Trilogy and CTR is a cake walk compared to this game, but the difficulty comes more so from the length and design rather than the challenge.
Too much repetition, too many hidden boxes, too many things that require perfection (when cassette tapes already basically being "death routes" should be enough), too long loading times for something that will require you to constantly restart.
The auto run levels in the original trilogy are some of my favorites, but in Crash 4 they feel like complete garbage. I immediately gave up on the idea of ever 100%ing this game after playing the first polar part.
