Is getting good at fighting games a meme?

Is getting good at fighting games a meme?
Did people like Daigo has to practice for hundreds of hours to become that good or is it just a matter of natural born autism?

i would say initially natural born autism because there's people left field young who dominate - but later fall off. THEN to be long term good, it's hundreds of hours

it's both plus you also need other people on a similar level to compete against casually or you never progress

bit of both, if your natural reaction time is 300ms you can still stomp most noobs at your locals if you put in enough effort but you'll never win evo no matter what

playing fighting games is like playing an instrument. people quit and find it impossible when they hit a plateau. you have to be willing to replay and watch your mistakes and correct them iteratively, which can turn off a lot of players who are just wanting instant gratification

getting good is not a meme, but you have to put the mental effort and not just blindly play all day and expect a linear increase in performance

>hundreds
lol

Daigo said this. No one gets "bored" of a hobby. They get bored of not improving. If youre constantly improving. Pushing yourself, pushing the boundary, getting better. Youll never be bored.

Is that an actual outfit or is it a mod?
T. Doesn't follow sfv

Like any other hard thing, practice will help you get better at doing it. The amount of time that takes until you become "acceptable" is what people call talent

Stop making excuses

Actual outfit.

Wrong. Getting good just makes player pool smaller. Lots of high level players just barely play because stomping shitters is insipid. Even worse online when connection quality comes into play. Most games fall apart at top level as well.

The sweet spot had always been upper mid level, which is a lot higher than most realize, essentiall know about and can execute everything that isnt esoteric.

Practice and some talent.
I've seen Daigo's streams, sometimes he practices just one move for hours. Just one fucking move.
His whiff punishes are insane because of that.

It also, as an alt code, has the Clock Tower bikini outfit

Unironically a 10/10 outfit for Cammy.

If you want to get good like Daigo, then yeah it's a meme. It's basically his job and he affords a huge amount of time to practicing. It's his life and he can live off it. Not all of us can do that.

If you want to get good to the point where you can earn significant improvement over a beginner, this is basically why fighting games are popular in the first place. It's just a really fun, satisfying thing to do to watch yourself grow and become more competent.

I want to mating press Cammy

Yes. Unless there are tournaments(with good prize pools) close to you, there is absolutely no reason to go higher than the average player. You are wasting your gaming hours, with repetition, frustration and eventually regret. Just play casually with friends preferably and move on once the game dies

>hundreds of hours
LMAO, fighting games are about (tens of) housands of hours. Daigo has played for 30-40 years.

like everything it's a mix of both, if you have no talent playing for a million hours like daigo won't do anything but talent alone can't beat talent + experience

Practice and dedication, if anyone tells you otherwise they are deluding themselves.

Are you actually or retarded or just pretending? Why would you ever work at something to be just good?

if your reaction time 300ms you probably dont have a pulse, also "natural reaction time" is not a thing as with everything else in the human body it gets better the more you use it.

I can't believe how retarded some of you are. Daigo practiced more and cared more than anyone else. End of story. "born with it!" is an excuse.

>It's basically his job and he affords a huge amount of time to practicing.
He was good before esports.

He used to be a nurse i believe. he would travel to america on his own dime to play super turbo

It's both.

Natural born autism is being decent or good at any game you play, regardless of genre. Daigo or any other popular "professional" fighting game player don't have that autism, so if you see them play other games, they're actually pretty bad at them.

I'm sensing people here that want to be good at something, but don't want to put in the effort of doing so. Peak amerilard entitlement.

self-contradiction, the post

Yes

That's not what autism is at all, most people with autism are trash at video games.

I don't know the exact numbers but ~20% of people have 300ms reaction time or greater, and the "natural reaction time" is absolutely a thing. It refers to the time it takes for your brain to process signals. The more practice you do the closer you get to that natural reaction time when reacting to other things (e.g. recognizing a move on the first start-up frame and reacting immediately)

Maybe you should not thread games as cybersport instead?
The jap have strong as fuck arcade culture. They were grow up with arcades and arcades are still alive. A lot arcade games are skill based. Even something like Gundum. So it is simple why they're so skilled at them

>It's basically his job
There are far more pro level players than there are actual pros who play vidya for a living
