RE2make is my favorite RE but I don't really have a problem with fixed cameras. At most they make the combat too simple (because there's less room for precision), but presentation-wise they are perfectly fine.
Mikami was far from the only one responsible for making RE good anyways. He was clearly not responsible for the map design, resource management, and horror if RE4 is any indication.

Nah. May have been a limitation to him but contemporary games like SH and Fatal Frame used similar camera angles to great effect on purpose since it worked for RE

He made "a different" game in the exact same franchise, and didn't think any of those elements were at all important. Meanwhile the games he didn't direct between 1 and 4 all retained those elements to some degree. Even if he allowed for those elements in the first place, he probably was not intimately involved with them. A director provides a vision for a team, they still need a team to do the work.

Yeah, tank controls and fixed cameras are a thing of the past, it's absolutely fine to like them, but understand it's an out dated implementation of camera control.
Beyond blind nostalgia, there's no reason to favour that scheme.
And if you like them not for nostalgia, but for crippling autism, understand that you're in the extra minority and the market had absolutely no reason to favour you.
