I'm not entirely sure if I personally hold this opinion myself, but I think Timesplitters could fit this bill depending on ones taste in maps/gameplay style. I like 2 and 3 so much for different reasons so its hard to put one over the other. 2 & 3 are GOAT games while people forget 1 even exists.

This is the perception of a Fromsoft zoomer. I'm so sorry that you only hopped on board for Dark Souls, but From has always pumped out odd sequels to all of their games since the beginning of time. Dark Souls 2 just had a target on it's back because of Miyazaki's success with 1.

Dark Souls is the only series in which a compelling argument can be made for each entry being the best in the series. Each game as a preference is pretty much unique to the type of gamer you are. It's pretty impressive, really.
