Dumb question: are their Pokémon hacked or natural? Like did they just make their Pokémon team via hacking into the game or did they do the whole schtick of catching/breeding the Pokémon with the correct natures/etc and level up their IV/EV?

No matter how easy GF tries to make it, no one with any sanity legitimately breeds pokemon for comp and a properly hacked pokemon is 100% indistinguishable from legitimate. The hacking tools have error checking too before you try to inject anything.

Okay let me ask this. To put it simply let’s say both of these players use a pikachu as their first Pokémon (pikachu 1v1). Everything is the same. Natures, moves, stats to a T. Is it literally just a coin flip then to see who moves first if their speed is the same? If they’re the same speed, would it be possible for one guy to move first three times in a row before the other guy can move first? Just curious because if that’s the case, seems like the game is heavily based on RNG at that point besides moves and switching.

Competitive pokemon isn't really that RNG reliant like people always assume, but yeah a situation like a speed tie is just decided via and RNG coin flip.

1. stats + excellent typing
2. overlapping movesets for different roles = unpredictable
3. can fulfill any role even in both singles and doubles
4. ridiculous amount of ways to ev them to fit in any team
5. u-turn for singles, intimidate for doubles

Why don't they just implement some more basic rulesets to select from for people who don't want legendaries and shit. Maybe even stuff like the Stadium Pika Cup for people who don't even want to deal with OU

There are only 3 types of ruleset for official battle:
- Casual: Anything goes
- Ranked: Mythical / Non-native Pokemons are banned.
- Special: Varies ruleset changes every season .

Yeah, a speed tie is always a coin flip, doesn't matter the species or the EVs or the whatevers, if both Pokémon are X speed it's a coin flip but if one has 1 point more they move first
