There needs to be a serious crackdown on:
- soijakposting
- nsfwposting
- thinly-veiled political threads
- thinly-veiled tranny threads
- thinly-veiled coom threads
- threads that start with a single word/sentence (e.g., "x killed millions", "discuss", "have you pre-ordered x's game?" etc.)
- low-effort posts in general
I don't see it happening anytime soon. The jannies aren't Zig Forumsirgins themselves and don't see themselves as part of the community, and the mods are even more distant.

it's the dilution of "internet culture" as a result of a consolidation of a large amount of internet traffic existing on only a few small websites. not only that, it's a deliberate attempt, by marketing firms and retards alike, to shape discourse and change prevailing opinions that leads to a sort of manufactured "internet vernacular" that exists to solidify the aforementioned attempt at enshrouding people in a homogenized culture.
in other words, everyone's an attention whore trying to come up with the latest new memeshit, not only for the attention, but also because there are a number of currencies that are acquired through successful dissemination of that very memeshit.
