I just prefer if rts moved away from that and focus on campaign mechanics and put a bigger emphasis and time to mission gimmicks, enemies, stories then pvp nobody cares or plays

Why not all three? Just imagine, a modern Dune-themed RTS.
The main factions are Atreides, Harkonnen, and the Fremen. Beautiful 4K graphics, sand worms, melee troops with shield generators, Bene Gesserit witches, etc.
To make it really innovative, they'll need to remove a lot of the bullshit micromanagement. Obsessing over actions per minute is ridiculous in a strategy game. It's extremely off-putting how StarCraft 2 only gives you a queue of 5, charges you immediately when you queue up new units. It fosters a playstyle where you need to babysit EVERY little production facility, which is the world's biggest pain in the ass. Something like Total Annihilation's system would work much better.

That's the thing, starcraft is only partly a strategy game - it's also a management game. Trying to efficiently control all your stuff and manage your base, deciding where to spend your limited attention IS the game

They like braindead experiences that make them "feel" like the commander of an army, they don't like gameplay, they don't like making decisions, they liking building big blobs of units and pressing A to win

i also want to play on the hardest difficulty even if it means those once in a while times you realize you fucked everything up from build to current and need to do a full restart on the mission
