Minecraft Java Edition will require you to have a Microsoft account

Minecraft Java Edition will require you to have a Microsoft account
wonder if that means they'll give java players free windows editions too
They did that back when w10 came out
So no more MultiMC?
Is that supposed to be Notch on the mic there? I thought they removed him from the credits for wrong thinking.
That's dinnerbone, not notch
Fuck that. Offline mode it is from now on.
FREE CAPE! FREE CAPE! FREE CAPE! FREE CAPE! FREE CAPE!
>In some cases, you will need to change your username when you migrate to a Microsoft account. This will vary per account, such as if if someone already happens to have the username or if it does not meet security protocols.
Well that sucks. My username's already taken, and I don't want to change it.
Yeah, that's all they're doing to try to soothe the asshurt people will have about this.
Do they not do that anymore? That’s how I got windows edition years ago.
What's this FuturisticHub-looking ass nigga?
I never even switched to a Mojang account back when they did that. What bullshit is this that now Microsoft requires all my data just so I can continue to play Minecraft?
Only when Windows 10 edition first came out. Anybody who bought Minecraft after it only gets the edition they paid for.
It was a limited time thing that I like an idiot forgot to do. Not really that much of a gripe, was just wondering.
That makes my micro soft, if you catch my drift
> two-factor authentication
Please tell me they're not going to force this retarded bullshit. I can understand it for something that's actually important like email or whatever, but I don't need a bunch of annoying cumbersome security features on my fucking MINECRAFT account.
just don't forget to migrate in 2 months, or you'll have to buy it again
They did it again I had java and got bedrock edition this year.
What does this imply for Java users as far as content updates? Will Java eventually catch up with bedrock? The modding scene right now in java is so bad if you want to play up to date. All the fun monster/quest/rpg mods are still stuck to 1.12
Java and bedrock are nearly at feature parity, but it's likely that Java Edition will only get 1 or 2 more updates before it's killed off in favor of Bedrock everywhere.
Well at least it will be a good news for modders, they won't have to update for the game every single time.
but i doubt it would be true.
my microsoft account got locked for no reason, and i can't unlock it without a mobile phone (i only have cable phone)
so basically i wasn't able to play w10 edition anymore, but still java edition. so now i can't play both anymore.
nice
and btw i don't want to give them my phone number anyways.
Yeah honestly the sooner java "dies" the sooner minecraft will be free to have all up to date mods. The current landscape as it has always been is such a nightmare with "LOL MY MOD IS FOR 1.14 BUT YOU HAVE TO USE FORGE" or "OH MY MOD IS HALF FUNCTIONAL BUT ONLY WORKS WITH THE MOST RECENT FABRIC API BUT IT DOESNT INTERACT WITH THIS MOD" maybe we can finally have a singular unified API that works universally and is configurable enough to make everything interact relatively peacefully
>Bedrock everywhere.
Except it supports way fewer platforms, but honestly I've been expecting them to kill the Java version since they took over Mojang.
isn't Bedrock dogshit because you can't mod?
>but i doubt it would be true
Right now they're maintaining two versions of the game and Bedrock sales far exceed Java sales. Once Bedrock is on MacOS (kind of is with education edition) and Linux, there will be no good reason for Mojang to continue Java development.
They should have just gone all in on Bedrock from the beginning. Trying to keep two branches of the same exact game going at the same time was always a ticking time bomb.
It would have sucked at first, but there's no reason to be playing Java anymore anyway.
yes
also all updates for it need to accommodate touchscreen
Bedrock is on everything, but MacOS and Linux. Microsoft isn't going to care about versions of Windows older than 10, so Java working on XP-8.1 doesn't really matter.
You can mod bedrock but it's such a bitch that you won't find much and they're likely out of date, and most of the easily available mods cost money and are dogshit reskins. Most paid shit in windows craft is like, player skins, items that are just other items with modified characteristics, and boring surface level game worlds.
