AD stopped being good in season 9. I don’t know what it’s up now but season 10 it moved to TBS and one of the original writers/show runners left the show and the drop in quality was tremendous

Nah Stan really every character is inconsistent as fuck, but usually in service of whatever story they want.
Sometimes Stan is a well meaning dunderhead trying to do what he thinks is best.
Sometimes he's a just a sad middle aged man sitting on a life of unresolved trauma.
Sometimes he's a level headed voice of reason trying to keep the ridiculous life around him in check.
Sometimes he's an absolute sociopath completely void of humanity that needs to be put in check.
But the stories are fun.
