What went wrong?
What went wrong?
For that particular picture or WoW in general?
>remove addictive elements
>people recove from addiction and move on to other hobbies
addiction was the appeal of world of warcraft and without that its just its very boring core game.
Its the same with most MOBA games if you remove the addictive elements then people stop playing.
WoW was stupid from the get-go and if you played it, you're a faggot that ruined gaming. A skinnerbox with shitty combat filled to the brim with like shit and it invented lootboxes
you have to play everquest 1, and have the vision to make it better in every way.
with blizzards founding top down leadership demanding, not innovation in games, but for the games they copy to be the absolute best possible any copy of that game could be, that are easily accessible to all, and depth enough for any player that wants to explore it.
activision on the otherhand have different objectives.
it's a bane of any vertical progression MMO
a good mmo needs an ecosystem that keeps players busy with content and gives them reasons to interact with their server while the devs work on new content. nu-blizzard and every other modern mmo only care about big load blowing endgame raids and cinematic storylines, the rest of the content is shit riddled with grinding and time gating.
Wow stop growing sometime in wotlk and a lot of ppl quit in cata?
>What went wrong?
I guess this dipshit paladin guy couldn't get a real life and got stuck playing wow for 7 years lmao
>shit riddled with grinding and time gating.
Bro? There is no grinding in modern MMO. The grinding in old mmos was content.
lol this
only dumb kiddies played that shit
same goes for dumbass "remember when Halo was gud" threads when shit like that was babbys first fps
fucking casual kiddies kys
Based lel. Fuck gamers. They're for pussy nerds XD
These. Fuck kikes and shit combat
For me personally, the vast majority of fun in these games was because my friends were playing them. As more and more of my friends left, the experience became less and less enjoyable. But a game can still be fun even if your friends are all playing something else so that wasn't the whole story. What really finished it off is that the game just became a really blatant and tedious Skinner box designed in a really predatory way to keep your ass in the seat based on psychological exploitation rather than an actual enjoyable experiences. For me, going on a hike is enjoyable, reading a book is enjoyable, going to the gym is enjoyable, but I could also just sit in my apartment and shoot up heroin and I bet on some level I'd be happy (until the heroin ran out of course).
Video games used to be like a 3rd option. An alternative to other enjoyable things I could be doing. Or I could take a break from reading a book and play some WOW. Now though, WOW and even MOBAs are more like digital heroin. If you aren't an addict desperately trying to escape something in your life, they have very little appeal. I log onto something like Mordhau and I have fun. I can log on to old free DAOC servers or Warhammer Online servers and still have fun. Every time I play/played For Honor or a lot of other games, I still have fun. There's just a type of game and it's really common these days, that is basically like a casino with a video game overlaid on top of it. It's not fun playing Skinner Box deterministic garbage.
>it invented lootboxes
You don't even know what those are, do you?
You don't, clearly.
>He doesn't know.
>the average person isn't an autistic sperg who plays the same game for a decade nonstop
>the average person isn't an autistic sperg and is actually able to MOVE ON
hmmm that's a tough one
This image should be updated with a classic wow image at the bottom but still alone.
what? they ADDED addictive elements
this, wow is a boring garbage game
>some brazilian carnival parade with random misfit in colorful outfits and 0 care for the hostile world around them
vs
>solemn warrior kneeling, praying before embarking on his pilgrimage in the dangerous vastness of Azeroth, bound by his duty to do what must be done
you mean the game became kino?
>it invented lootboxes
retard
Do you not know?
People sometimes lose interest in videogames
Describe what you think a lootbox is
And dies like Reckful because of first world problems
>wow invented the concept of randomized loot
r-r-r-r-r-r-retards
They're talking about the CCG. It was a lootbox scheme. Spectral Tiger is like 19 grand bro
WoW was never good
Stop letting nostalgia blind you
WoW instituted all the shitty, boring tropes repeated in every single MMO.
technology progressed, the game didn't
At least in 2012 WoW was still grounded in its own universe. Compare that to now and how fucked the lore is.
