Why did people overreact on how "bad" this game was when it wasn't even bad to begin with?

I've never seen 1 review of this game that talks about how you can turn off the lyrics in the options menu.

I only played the PC version in around 2003 but the music never played. Was I alone?

Because like with Riders casuals got filtered by the controls

i played a pirated pc version as a kid and never knew it had music until years later

The average populace can't into tank controls

it controls like shit. why the fuck sonic runs like he were a car? he’s supossed to have fluid move

just doesnt have enough courses and the balance of the racers kinda sucks

It's only got 5 tracks bro. You can finish the game in 30 minutes.

Pc ports usually fuck up thanks to incompatible sound cards. Simular thing happened to me with Rayman 1 but with the sound instead

Why the fuck would you turn off the lyrics?

R needs a remake. SEGA through Traveler's Tales because they forced them to retool a GT racing game into a Sonic game with only like 6 months to do so. Give it another year and it would been a cult classic

Nigga what

the music and it's vocals is the best fucking element of the game by a gigantic mile

Sonic R is shit because the core movement sucks and there's barely any content, the soundtrack is 10/10 though

Probably because there was no mainline sonic game on the Saturn. It would have just fallen into obscurity like sonic drift had there been one

I know, but if it bothers you so much why bitch about it when there is an option to turn them off?

i'd like riders better if it didn't have such a shitty artstyle.

5 tracks in a racing game is a criminally low amount

comfy tracks though

look up Metropolis Street Racer, there are several tracks with the same composer and singer

daytona USA had a low track count yet no one bitched then

I liked it, the soundtrack is fantastic. Fun ends once you unlock Super Sonic though.

It's funny listening to adventure babbies complain about R's music but praise some of the garbage that gets shit out later on.
"It's cheesy" is a shit argument if the example you list off is equally if not more cheesy

jontron

was never good or funny

You can turn the lyrics off? Why would you, it's like the best vidya OST ever. That said, you can clear this game in under an hour.

Because even with shoulder button cornering the only characters who can comfortably make sharp turns are super sonic and metal knuckles

Most of those tracks incorporate the nonlinear design of a good Sonic stage though.

Wait people actually think the soundtrack is bad?

the game was enjoyable but didn't have a lot of substance. I thought it was disappointing and lazy that all the unlockable characters were just mechanized versions of the other characters. Metal sonic is cool and all but why the fuck is there shit like tails doll instead of somebody like Fang the Sniper

Most if not all reviews of this game spend 5-10 overacting about the music.

>Why did people overreact on how "bad" this game was when it wasn't even bad to begin with?

It's mostly people who don't know how to use/operate the controls, it's quite easy to adjust/adapt to in my opinion.

LIVING IN THE CITY!

I've beaten this game with Eggrobo on hard mode

git gud

the screen that said you got NO chaos emeralds used to scare me as a kid

People playing for the first naturally gravitate towards picking Sonic not realizing he's one of the harder characters to control
