I am going to be angry and really sad if this happened to me. I hate people wasting money on something while trying to do something nice, but it doesn't work out. It's one of the thoughts that makes me the most depressed for some reason. To be fair before the influx of low skill labor flooding our country an 18 year old could get an entry level job that would allow them to save for a few years and buy a house without a $250k loan.
Construction was especially hit hard and compared to the average wages from, let's say, the 80's and adjusting for inflation immigrants did hammer such industries down to poverty levels because they will work for absolute dogshit wages. Now that has become the standard. We are already seeing the tech industry/engineering and medical pros wages decline due to this issue.
What do you think south American countries would say if millions of Americans each year went to their countries, sucking up social programs and incentivise employers to hire then because they would work for less or more likely take the jobs because they are more educated?
