What was the biggest waste of money you ever did spend on a video game?
What was the biggest waste of money you ever did spend on a video game?
one time i bought a pokemon card for $200
guess it wasnt much of a waste because i later made the $200 back and still have the card
I bought a PS3 under the assumption that surely there'd be at least a few PS3 exclusives worth playing. I was wrong. There was only one.
I bought smash brothers brawl like 3 times as a kid.
$300 on Genshill Chinapact but those fucking greedy slants are killing their own game.
How are they killing their own game? It doesn't seem particularly greedy by gacha standards.
Close to 200-300$ on hearthstone packs
I spent money on cosmetics for Rainbow Six Siege until I came to realize that the game was becoming utterly shit the moment they started doing retarded balance changes to the game just to cater to e-sport twitchfags
>There was only one.
...The Godfather?
No, that was on the superior platform: Wii.
The division 2
I bought keys for the purpose of opening TF2 crates
It's just as greedy as any other. $450 for a 5*, that's pretty shit, but at least you can math out the exact cost. Though yeah you can easily just play the game without giving them any fucking money, and honestly have a good time. Tough to do that with other gacha unless you get lucky.
I went through a small phase of trying to rebuy some of my nostalgia games but for real I may as well just flush money down the toilet for all the good buying those games does, good emulation exists and PAL is shit.
Playing on the real hardware isn't somehow going to make me happy again, it's just going to make me poor.
Well Granblue, considered one of the more generous games, is more like $900 for a spark so yeah, while $450 is pretty ridiculous I'd say it looks a lot better compared to that. Not that I would ever pay that. But yeah, like you said, it's perfectly playable even without paying. I already have like 10 4-star characters without paying a single cent and I haven't even dipped that heavily into my primogems yet. I don't feel at all like not having a 5 star is preventing me from progressing or enjoying the game. And since it has a 5 star guarantee, which many games do not, I figure what I'll do is enjoy these characters, save for a while, and eventually have enough to get a 5 star outright, still without paying a cent. I do appreciate that some idiots are pumping hundreds of dollars into the game because it will keep it afloat all while I get months of enjoyment out of it for free.
Spent $250 on Artifact.
Around $400 on hearthstone
$300 on Gwent
And around $2,000 on Dota 2, since beta to the present.
You can also softmod the hardware so that you can play on the hardware but pirate the games and it is very inexpensive. I have my PS2 set up to do that.
I spent like $500 on War Thunder and Gaijin managed to ruin the fucking game in the last few years. Moral of the story? Fucking Gaijin and fuck Russia.
As opposed to buying them for the purpose of not opening TF2 crates?
CS:GO and Metin2
Dark Souls 3 for 30$
It's the only time I spent 20$+ for a game and I hope it's the last.
£800 on a spectral tiger loot card on world of warcraft. Funny thing is I quit shortly after and sold account for like £160.
Yes, rather than throwing away money on strange weapons I could have bought keys to trade for something "worthwhile"
Alternatively, I can go into the market now and just buy whatever hats and shit I could want for pennies
Wow
Absolute garbage
Its sad to say that I've fucked up a lot when it comes to that. Animal Crossing New Horizons, Pokemon Shield were the last 2. The biggest was probably a really expensive Guitar Hero guitar for the fucking Wii, back in 2010 or so. But I mean, I've bought so many shit games the guitar doesn't even feel that bad.
I enjoyed the Guitar Hero game on Wii. Granted I did not buy the guitar but if I did I think I would have gotten enough playtime out of it to justify it. Now Rock Band, that game seemed far too expensive to justify.
This
Also this; Anything touchpad related is garbage
The thing is, I live in a country where vidya prices aren't normal. Videogames are considered gambling, so they get taxed to hell and nintendo games need to be imported on top of that, so it usually costs around half a minimum wage per game. The guitar costed me more than a fucking whole month of most peoples earnings. And I didn't even got good at GH. I never told that to anyone and probably wont irl. I mean, maybe it was like paying 400 dollars for it. I have no fucking idea what I was thinking back in the day, I just thought it was a nice guitar and I really wanted to play GH? The regret is still killing me to this day.
Oh. That does change things, then. I don't think it cost more than $100 for Guitar Hero in a normal country. That is a regrettable situation but hey, you're still here, so it didn't kill you at least.
Why didnt I buy like all the Dragon Quest games I could find? They are expensive and rare nowdays. Thats what kills me. I was such a dumbfuck. I bought an original copy of GH, but pirated fucking No More Heroes and all the other good games I wish I had bought original copies of. But yeah, never spent anything I couldnt affoard. Still here and still buying shit I'll regret a lot in a month. I deserved to be poor.
