Because it's fucking kino. I replay it every Christmas for the comfy feels, then uninstall once I remember how unfun and bullshit the progression is - even in Radiant. The RNG is actually fine, it's what makes the game fun and rewarding even after countless hours. The problem is the difficulty spikes and the cost of keeping your party up to speed. That's what makes the game grindy, not the RNG. This would also be fine if players could find the best solutions to these difficulty spikes, but the devs have continually nerfed anything deemed "too effective" and ruining any chance of enjoying this game in the long run.

>kino

Fuck yourself tv cocksucker. Otherwise I mostly agree.

>The game is fun until you get into it
Wow buddy, great fucking game pal.

Because people like to pretend

I was interested in the premise but that artstyle is eyeball aids so I never tried it

>the game is good until you play it for more than 1 hour
Then its not good you autist

OH MY GOOOOOOODDDDDD WE WALKED BACKWARDS MY MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIND CAN'T TAKE IT AAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

The game itself is very mediocre and is the posterchild of ''Hard/=Good''. That said, I've spent a fair amount of hours playing this on my Ipad while I'm working nightshift as a security guard. The pitch black darkness of my surroundings helps immerse me enough to let me overlook some of its many shitty design decisions.

The amount of salt this game has generated from zoomers who finally got wind of it years after release is sublime. They are pathetic and have no concept of self-awareness.

>many shitty design decisions
name 1

Would be much better without autistic management bullshit between dungeons.

would be easier for you smol brain

I've bought it for 3 bucks recently, played 9 hours, and it's not bad, but grindy.

I've only done short level 1 missions because the bosses on medium level 1 are ridiculously strong and I barely have enough money each time to keep people sane and healthy.

I have no bloody idea how I'm going to progress, especially since characters level 3 outright REFUSE to do missions level 1, so you can't even grind until you're strong enough, and I'm not a reddit faggot that will just open the wiki and do the walkthrough of the best team or whatever.

I love everything about it except for the gameplay

The game is fine up until the endgame, where you are meant to treat your characters that you've leveled for the past 20-30 dungeons as "disposable".

>Over-reliance on RNG
>Designed to be as ballbusting and punishing as possible at the cost of respecting a players time
>Balancing is complete fucking ass and when the devs are called out on it they just say: ''Its a feature!''
>Most of the DLC are bad seemingly by design, adding tedium instead of new intresting mechanics into the game
Is 4 enough?

>>Over-reliance on RNG
you're rolling retard
>>Designed to be as ballbusting and punishing as possible at the cost of respecting a players time
you're bad
>>Balancing is complete fucking ass and when the devs are called out on it they just say: ''Its a feature!''
you're so bad they added an easy mode for you
>>Most of the DLC are bad seemingly by design, adding tedium instead of new intresting mechanics into the game
bad seemingly by design? adding tedium? it's optional

git gud retard

why is game bad?
>i no liek dlc!
kys retard

What kind of inbred brainlet you have to be to feel smart from doing unengaging busywork in literal shovelware?

Lvl 1 bosses are easy, just make sure you take decent damage dealer characters that can hit whatever place they like to hang out at (4 for prophet, 3 and 4 for hag, all 4 at once for flesh, for instance) to kill them fast enough because early level characters do shit damage. Improve their skills and weapons in the guild/blacksmith. If you're really struggling include a vestal in all your teams as training wheels, the occultist is very unreliable at the start and the flagellant as a healer is more for advanced players. Kill the monsters that can inflict stress first (usually in positions 3 and/or 4) and you should never have stress problems (if you still do, jesters can help with that). Camping helps relieve stress/can give buffs before the boss/resets light level to max.
In short, git gud.

Based

I have to agree with this. It seems like the hardest part of the game is just choosing a mission. It's none of that fun plotting and planning, assessing risk and calculating rewards. It's bullshit bureaucratic scheduling. If people die or get stalled out, you're completely out of sync and have to restructure the schedules. Throwing out crews in symbolic failure missions just to spend the week and have a working team. All time I would rather be in a dungeon trying to outwit an enemy team.

the concept is gold
the mechanics are trash tho

So, basically the only good thing is the aesthetic, the voice acting, and the potential if the developers would stop being faggots.

How about the big one: the developers purposely nerfed multiple comps into the ground, in a single player game, because they were "too effective."

While you can agree or disagree about the whole game mechanic, you can't disagree that the game has a metric fucktong of atmosphere. Honestly i replay it from time to time just for the music combined with the rest.

>Nu-Zig Forums describes a game as good the same way somone from Resetera talks about walking simulators.

>kino
See OP? this is the people that "enjoys" the game. Do you really want to waste time talking with its kind?

160 hours and literally playing right now. Cope, redditors.

back to the pit noob

I like it

I gotta say, you're just wrong on this one.

thats the only way something can be good you dipshit

if its good before then its too simple

It’s good but honestly there are a few classes (leper, abomination, maybe jester though that’s more preference) that seem kinda useless. I don’t wanna have 4 highwaymen, 4 vestals and 4 shieldbreakers, but I can’t find a good reason not to.

You aren't actually having trouble with this game are you? I refuse to believe nu-Zig Forums can't handle darkest dungeon of all things.

he's just wrong on that. The game is art as rad as hell. Mike Mignola kinda stuff.

no one's here to dispute that the game is pretty, and no one should. But criticisms on the time sink are pretty legitimate.

it's not that you can't handle it. You're bound to beat it if you put your time in. It's just annoying that the cost for failure is that your game will take more hours to beat, and most of that time is spent in the least fun part of the game.
