>People are somehow amazed at the PS5 and XSX getting a SSD
>PC have had SSD for over 9 years
Welcome to 2011 consolekeks
People are somehow amazed at the PS5 and XSX getting a SSD
99% of pc userbase don't have a ssd dude
it's not just an SSD, seeing it in demons souls was mind blowing. Picture being at an archstone in boletaria palace and being instantly transported to the Allant fight.
>99% of pc userbase don't have a ssd dude
source?
My pc had SSD and was from 2008. Right now, SSDs are everywhere. My mom's, sisters', Grandparents', etc...
>it's not just an SSD,
It's an off the shelf SSD, it's just PCI 4 SSD so won't be any better than a pc one.
then why havent i seen a single PC game do that kind of effect? it's literally going to open up endless possibilities in a stale gaming world.
angry consolefag spotted
>consoles get SSD's and games immediately use them more efficiently than PC ever did
Quick resume is really something. Games being optimised for SSD's will pay it forwards to PC too so don't worry.
seething
I think the big thing is mainly that now that next gen consoles will come with SSDs, we'll likely see more games and engines designed with them in mind. I wouldn't be surprised if in 3-5 years time, We'll start seeing games actually mention having an SSD in their system requirements.
PS5 SSD is just meme after all. Sony knew snoyggers are fucking retarded.
>doesn't know what alt-tab is
see filename
pc gaming is irrelevant.
Because it's also about engine priorities, schedules, and cache. The game to be built around using an SSD, including ensuring it's using the maximum available memory to cache assets. If you can spend an extra 2GB of memory to keep 'persistent assets' in place, you can make load times instant on almost any platform.
FYI the smoke screen is a loading screen.
oh ya, I read it is not better than the pc ones.
see
It’s been longer than 9 years
This was true maybe five years ago but SSD prices plummeted. Even a 250GB SSD used to run several hundred dollars as little as 8 years ago. Now you can get one for $25. SSD is about $1/GB right now
PCIe NMVe M.2 SSDs are a recent thing, though. They're much faster, it's just that PCs have had affordable access to them within the last 3 years.
I just ordered a brand new Samsung 980 pro. Literally came out a month ago. It’s still not as fast as the ps5 SSD.
SSDs have been standard in pre-builts for years.
You don't know what quick resume is.
>smoke screen
that is barely on the screen? it's just so it doesn't look shit. Games are always "loading".
Only in the last couple of years they got cheap enough to become ubiquitous and large enough to be used for games as opposed to just OS and a few programs.
Also lead console getting SSD means video games will start to take advantage of the technology now. We might see games designed from the ground up with SSD load speed as cornerstone for their engine.
1TB version?
this is blatant false advertising then
>SSDs have been standard in pre-builts for years.
At 32gb and 64gb.
Snoyggers don't care
>99% of pc userbase don't have a ssd
>99%
even if you where talking about the 80% you would be dead wrong but now 99% is not even a realistic proportion
dude
yep. Thing was over 200 bucks. Worth it though I didn’t want to be literally half the speed of a fucking console
Try 128 and 512.
Nobody is denying the move to SSDs is positive. They're denying that Sony's SSD is somehow magically better than all other tech out there to a point of making an appreciable difference.
i have a SSD mainly just for windows, csgo and music production, most my games are on a HDD and i reckon my HDD would load that part faster.
dont worry, after seeing anons webm comparison i feel like an asshole, i was tricked by false advertising. Didnt realize you could just blatantly do that without getting in trouble.
Only if you wanted to spend $400+ at the time, and they were eMMC flash most of the time.
I think we both know enough about this subject to not omit necessary information.
>Bought into the muh NVMe M.2 SSD meme
>It's going to be blazing fast, faster than anything ever
>Meanwhile everything is still loading slow as fuck but it's okay because at least it's not HDD
The master race will really defend any shit as long as it allows them to seem superior to consoles
lol no, 8 years ago, the method was to install Windows alone to the SSD
it still gave a speedup because it'd accelerate DLL load times rather than having the HDD alternate seeks between game and system calls
a WD black is pretty good tho, i got 1 tb and never gave me problems
>samsung.com
>Samsung 980 pro gets 7000 MB/s read versus PS5 5500MB read
PS5 SSD is outdated already
Can't believe people fell for Sony's "instant loading" marketing.
>New thing is smaller, faster and generally more efficient
Technology has always been this way so stop acting like it's anything new. Something new will happen, it'll be a bit bigger and then get smaller until the next stop-gap.
yeah i think that's what i have, i dont really notice much difference but for multiplayer i like the peace of mind for using it in csgo and possibly latency etc with music production. And obviously windows. It's only a small one, my budget was limited when i built the PC but i've found the HDD to be fine.
What do you expect from those snoyggers being overly retarded?
When the previous gen consoles launched a 1TB SSD was more expensive than a console. It's no wonder they didn't include one.
Shifting the goalposts, I see. Make sure you lift them with your knees, not your back.
>Samsung 980 pro gets 7000 MB/s*
>*In made up benchmark ran at absolute 0 in a vacuum, actual speed is 4500MB/S
Was there even any lose state in that entire sequence? That's one hell of a glorified cutscene.
you are meant to be punished for false advertising so you dont expect big companies to show it to billions of people... maybe some shitty chinese dodgy company but not big companies who are being watched with microscopes.
I joined this reply chain just to point out this glaring flaw. Let's not get ahead of ourselves that we're all replying to one person, OK? Don't forget to take your meds.
you're a genuine retard
there's so much memory that the entire level and assets can be loaded at once
>this is blatant false advertising
the first webm is just an edit of the second one
a lot of the surprise seems to be that people think SSDs are still super expensive, but they don't realize sony/ms cheaped out on buying really small size SSDs so you'll still only be able to install like 3 fucking games before you have to start deleting shit, due to forced 4k texture packs that aren't optional, and 800 language dubs that you'll never use.
Retards. Just buy a bottom of the barrel trash 1tb or 2tb SSD and it will atleast perform twice as good as the fastest HDD (in gaming). You guys are gimping yourself.
Funny how all the demake fags have never played the original. The Penetrator Archstone is a whole level and then some away from Allant’s boss fog.
try reading the whole thread before looking to attack someone, scitzo
>*In made up benchmark ran at absolute 0 in a vacuum, actual speed is 4500MB/S
same thing with PS5 SSD. You won't admit it cuz muh beloved sony.
lmao it's morel like 20% but ok
if you want to showcase the SSD's benefits show that spiderman demo you cvck0id
>accelerate DLL load times
>having the HDD alternate seeks
yikes
>2020 Blizzard announces that WoW needs an SSD
>PCfags start absolutely crying and saying that demanding an SSD is criminal and unfaaaaair
I hope future console ports start demanding SSDs in the minimum specs too.
>tfw 1TB NVME drive
>tfw got a hybrid setup in an external with an 8TB WD drive with a 250GB SSD
Feels good man.
i have an SSD as well, try actually reading posts for what they say not what you want them to say.
>reading comprehension
is this the same guy who can't read in all of these posts? i beat DeS when you were 12 faggot.
cope
>>PCfags
soccer moms who run wow on integrated and farm mounts mogs cheevos all day
I wasn't defending Sony, they're trash that deserved to be burned, I'm just saying that SSD speed are always bullshit
And another first post best post.
>instantly transported to the Allant fight.
Never happens in game because you have to clear a level before you are allowed to fight the boss. Is this hard to get?
I read your posts and saw that you have most of your games on your HDD. You are still gimping yourself.
Yea I have a Samsung 970 evo for boot drive and some games + a 2TB Crucial SATA SSD for all the other games.
that's a strawman argument though, most PC gamers in 2020 have SSDs. You could also say 99% of the worlds population are gamers because they play candy crush once a week on their phone, but let's cut the bullshit.
