Why do Zoomers refuse to play DOOM despite being the most ported game of all time?

I don't know about other Zoomers, but I don't really see a reason to play them. Yeah, they have their place in vidya history but what else?

It's not that good. Modern shooters are just better, including doom.

>Shit looks old as fuck
>The new ones so much better

t. zoomer, I didn't like it a lot

fuck off

Quake was a meaningful improvement in literally every way.

It's fun
I really want to try the vr mod for og doom.

I'm 18 and I've played through Ultimate Doom, Doom II and the Plutonia Experiment 100%, on Ultra-Violence and pistol start.
Most zoomers play on consoles and probably are turned away by Doom's "archaic" gameplay in lieu of more modern shooters with cover mechanics and regenerating health.

Only thing I give Quake props for is the rocket launcher
t. played through all episodes on Nightmare earlier this year.

leftists go absolutely ape whenever someone makes a joke at their expense, at least the right is capable of making fun of itself and taking it in good stride

What world do you live in that the original DOOM isn’t popular among young people? It is by far still one of the most played PC games out there, and zoomers rave all the time over it.
It’s like how people talk about how zoomers will never understand turn or the century action games and shooters, but they don’t realize that the slightly older zoomers grew up playing portable versions of halo 1 CE multiplayer and CS 1.6 on the computer labs because they’re easy to run past security and light on hardware load.

Meanwhile gen X and millennials pretend that DOOM didn’t get popular off of the free first act on floppies that circulated through school when they were young.

This comic fails to hit the mark.

Quake 3 is the better retro shooter for us zoomies to play though, since it's actually 3D

Why would I play a bleep-bloop pixel game when an objectively superior sequel exists?

Why would we want to play a 26 year old game?

I couldn't play the original game before sourceports and 144Hz monitors released due to me getting motion sick despite me being in boomer age territory.

Resident Evil 4 and Skyrim are more user-friendly and almost equally accessible

red wing politics aren't appealing to sane people

Suffering
Trial and error, mostly. The Plutonia Experiment's levels are more like puzzles you have to solve rather than your typical shooter level. It's often a matter of throwing yourself at it enough and utilizing any and all resources that are given to find a solution - secrets are often a must in a lot of levels. I do think the early game is the most difficult part of Plutonia - once you're past MAP15 or so it gets easier, and I'm not sure if that's because you just get used to the Arch-vile/Revenant/Chaingunner hell. Of course there's way harder .wads out there but Plutonia does offer an engaging and brutal challenge. Definitely liked it far more than stock Doom or Doom II.
