Whatever they make its fantastic for screenshots but never delivers. At this point it just brings down the value of any one else's attempts.

Puppet Combo fucking sucks. All the games are the fucking same, all of them are jank low effort farmed out shit to appease the Patreon bux. Nice little experiements with grindcore and aesthetics but fuck me stupidly loud screetching is not the be all and end all of scary games.

Get him an actual budget, a team and some fucking editing and we might actually get a half decent game at one point. As it is hes just going to keep repeating the same old shit.

Glass Staircase is a better "full" game than this. It has even more jank though and of course his awful fucking writing, pages and pages of awful shitty exposition.

The two Dread X collections have more and better games in the same vein as Puppet Combo, they are also cheaper. Hell the Jap Chilla's Art games are creepier while holding together better and looking very similar.

Hopefully they finally reach the golden age of gaming with PS2 style games.

That startle you feel due to a loud unexpected noise IS the horror user.

You've been conditioned by reddit to think it's atmosphere that makes something horror. In reality it's the constant fear of a jumpscare that keeps you on your toes.

For example imagine a universe where jumpscares didn't exist. They straight up weren't invented and all movies/games in the horror genre are just normal games but with creepy atmospheres. You would NEVER be afraid of anything in those games.

Why? Because the CHANCE of a jumpscare happening is what is keeping you tense at all times. You don't want to continue playing it because you don't want hard sounds and a creepy face to hit you out of nowhere.

Over reliance on jumpscares because your film has shit for atmosphere, characters, or story is a long held complaint of horror fans in film. It's the same in game. Jumpscares can be used well, but an overreliance of them shows you can't make shit. And "false jumpscares" AREN'T horror, since any movie can do that. By false jumpscares I mean

The jumpscares in 1978's Halloween detract from the film despite it being a classic with great atmosphere and suspense and characters.
