The news about Halo's micro transactions are a hint of what's to come for Xbox. Yeah, the base game is """free""" with game pass, but you're going to pay fortunes in order to actually get a playable game. Essentially
>MS exclusives are on game pass day 1
>filled with micro transactions and expensive DLC chapters so they can get their money back
No one in their right mind would buy into this... right?
The news about Halo's micro transactions are a hint of what's to come for Xbox. Yeah...

REQs in Halo 5 is the "hint"
I was actually surprised MS had the fucking gall to make an official video about it
The campaign is normally paid $60. The multiplayer is separate and free to play.
There are no microtransactions in Gears 5 campaing and probably won't be in Infinite SP
I don't care about the MP
MS was being Jewish fucks even before game pass. Both Halo 5 and Gears 4 had cosmetics locked behind lootboxes and premium currency. It blew my mind that they were willing to do that for their 2 biggest franchises.
That's something that's common for massive greedy companies like EA and Activision but you expect the big console companies to never join in on that horseshit.
It's especially insane considering how many unlockables were in the previous games of each series, Reach and Gears 3. Reach had no microtransactions at all and Gears 3 had weapon camos but all the characters were either unlockable or included in the DLC map packs.
>probably won't be in Infinite SP
K E K
You really think AAA games included with a cheap subscription is a sustainable business model?
Yes. Doom Eternal is on it, free DLC as well. Gamepass has 15 million active subscribers, that's a sustainable model.
>buy stuff with real money in our full priced game
>outrage
>buy randomized lootboxes with real money in our full priced game
>outrage
now
>WE ARE THE GOOD GUYS FOR REAL! you can't buy stuff with money! DAS RITE, FOR THE PLAYER!!!!
>*items now must be purchased with Game Points (499 points for 4.99 burgers - items cost a minimum of 500 points or more)
But Halo Infinite's community manager already responded to speculations about mtx especially skins and said:
> " Will there be mtx for MP? Yes. Will that be the ONLY way to get said skins, etc NO. Every thing can be unlocked in-game.
Fine with me. If paypigs wanna pay, then I don't mind.
Doom Eternal was not free on day 1.
Doesn't matter, it's a AAA game that's on there now without any of that BS. Sustainable model since it's more accessible and cheaper than buying a console/gaming machine, resulting in more subscribers and thus more money by offering a cheap monthly service.
I will never understand why people got so pissed about req packs. You earn them for fucking free.
All this means is that it will take thousands of hours to unlock the shit you want unless you pay.
Doom's DLC is free because people bought the game for 60 dollars. If it had been included with game pass that would never be sustainable.
The free DLC came out after it was on GamePass. GamePass also includes many DLCs of many other games, see Destiny and the MCC. Stop moving the goalpost.
Anyone who used Netflix in the early days could see this coming from a mile away
>Subscription service starts out good
>Builds up a larger and larger userbase
>People are now in the "ecosystem"
>Slowly fill the service with more of your own low effort garbage
>People just keep paying because they're used to it.
Notice how almost ALL of these subscription services dont turn a profit at first, it's an "investment". They become more greedy after you've already taken the plunge in
You're the one moving the goalpost. The point is that if games release day 1 on game pass they will need paid DLC and micro transactions to make their money. None of your examples were on game pass day 1.
Warzone absolutely shits all over Halo and Gears
Pretty much. Over time you'll see third party games all but disappear from the service, and the first party games will be games as a service shit riddled with paid content.
Any clever system allows them to be earned for free. It gives you a taste of power, makes you remember the grind to get to that point, and then entices you with shortcuts via paying.
Microsoft's goal is to get people invested into xbox ecosystem. It's not about selling the game at this point, AAA game is just a drop in the bucket of whole xbox brand.
Most of Doom Eternal's target audience already owns the game with both DLC preordered. Including it in the gamepass is not a big deal.
No it won’t. You don’t even play Halo.
But the ecosystem has to be profitable at some point. And that's when game pass will turn to shit, it happens to every subscription service out there.
that's fucking cool
thanks for the news
Yes I do, and I know that so far all the micro transactions have been reasonable, but the game has also never been included with game pass day 1, which is the game changer.
Modern gaming is so fucking gay
This is only an issue for zoomers who care about MUH COSTUMES MUH SKINS
Boomerchads dont do that gay unlock shit.
> Takes thousands of hours
No, it won't. Don't be stupid faggot. After Battlefront 2, no one is pulling that shit again.
Red Dead Online does it.
>thinking it’s just tv and vidya
>thinking it’s not gonna be literally everything soon

Americans are drones indoctrinated to COMSOOOOOME.
CORPORATION GOOD
SUBSCRIPTIONS GOOD
OWNING VIDYA BAD
>YOU will own nothing
>of course, the concept of ownership still exists, it's just that only the elites own things now, you rent them like a good goy
kek, why would anyone defend this?
Indoctrination
