Tell me one reason why gamers should be happy for "preservation" leaks when corporations can preserve it just fine

At best, you are working for a corporation for free by keeping copies of their source code, betas and assets.

>companies can preserve their content just fine
In what reality does that retard live? Companies can't preserve anything and lose sources\assets all the time.

video game companies lose the source code to games all the fucking time
also the 2008 universal studio fire says hello

It's true most people don't pirate for preservation, but companies are not capable of preserving on their own. The few enthusiasts who actually care about preservation are needed.

go back

>corporations can preserve it just fine
Yeah, haha.
>Looks at Japan

Why do people believe I owe them any explanation for my actions at all?

They don't preserve their shit. They're literally just allowed to destroy decades of this medium's - and only this medium's - art history at their whim or negligence? Protip, they do and have. This isn't a hypothetical, corporations that own these pieces do no preserve anything they can't profit off of and will destroy any amount of irreplacable art ti save a buck. Thankfully it's not up to them anymore. Fuck off.

Riiight tell that to the Scott Pilgrim Xbox game that was lost for almost a whole decade

Why do faggots try to justify pirating? lmao it's free games. Free. Why wouldn't I pirate, faggot?

I'll preserve my dick in your ass, faggot.

>companies preserve their content
No they fucking dont. And if they;re big enough they dont even have a reason to.
Is this astroturfing or bootlicking? Do people actually believe this bullshit?

>Companies can preserve their content just fine.
Ghost Mode in Hitman 2 is gone forever and Square literally can't find the assets for FF8 and 9.

The only company that does this is Nintendo, and only because they have some insane autists at the helm.

>Meanwhile will tweet about how he believes people should get housing and education and other things for free and that people stealing food should get food for free

Fucking commies. I pirate because I don't wanna pay for your game, plain and simple. I don't lie to myself or try to justify it with some moral bullshit.

INFORMATION WAS MEANT TO BE FREE

>There is no legal way to obtain this media so you shouldn't consume it.
That's right! Don't wanna get the Firemen on you, do ya?

Garbage doesn't get to have an opinion.

True, pirates are just pirating because they don't want to pay for shit, pretending its for any other reason is retarded. However companies lose their shit all the time, this dudes a fucking joke. All I hear is about how companies just happen to lose source code for games like Ninja Gaiden Black or Jet Set Radio Future iirc. Companies aren't capable.

You know this guy spent ridiculous amount on some Cart/CD era games and is seething that people can play it for free.

>game companies preserve just fine
yeah, its not like plenty of companies lose their source codes all the fucking time, right guys?

How about they release a demo like they used to and I won't need a review copy.

All these companies, shill to the left with burning down police stations and that crap.
Then cry out when u steal from them

Don't mind me, just posting gay shit in a gay twitter thread.

>True, pirates are just pirating because they don't want to pay for shit
I buy games if they came out in the last five years or are being presented in a great package. I pirate shit that it would be unreasonable to buy.

Nobody in their right mind is buying a copy of Mario & Wario, but I shelled out $30 for the MMZXLC despite owning MMZC and ZX1/2 on DS.

Information has no reason to not be free. It's not a physical good, the cost of duplicating infromation shrunk to negligible through all of humanity's history and especially in the last 100 years.

>Falsely asserts that companies can preserve their content when they have consistently proven they can't and often don't want to
>implying companies operate legally
Imagine being so far behind the 8-ball that you still think commerce functions on civility. This entire topic stopped being relevant years ago.

>tfw Nintendo just downloads rom packs from pirate websites to sell to your ass despite literally having an archive with the fucking source code on hand.

That was a licensing issue. Ubisoft never lost the source code, it wasn't reliant on online servers, users that bought it could download it at any moment and it is very pirated.

>find rare dinosaur fossil
>put it on my bookshelf
>don't let anybody else research it or even look at it
B-BUT AT LEAST IT'S BEING PERSERVED
