Actually is there any given reason why Brad never joined Rando's army?
Cause like, that would solve every problem in the game. Brad would be an incredible asset to Rando's army and would shoot up the ranks immediately, even if it were out of simple nepotism, it would wean him off of drugs easier with a genuine support group and goals and he'd even be able to raise Buddy, probably better than before since he wouldn't have to worry as much about keeping her secret.

you forget that until the very end of the game is brad given any indication that rando is a good man. and from how ruthless his troops are its easy to get the wrong idea about him. and so what if rando is a good man? you really think he could prevent all of his men from raping buddy? even if he personally guarded her 24/7 he would have to sleep at some point and they could kidnap her and have their way. its easy to see why brad saw the rando army as such a huge threat and why he did the things he did. and I never saw "absolving his sin" as the major reason he goes after buddy. he clearly cares about her as more then just a tool to absolve his guilt and genuinely wants her to have a happy life. he just has no clue how to properly do this with his limited experience and hostile environment he inhabits. brad did nothing wrong.

Brad literally crashed his bikes into the dude, and Rando apologized, gave him rations, and cried before he was driven off.
his men are ruthless dicks yes, and there is a chance they could try to rape buddy if it were just Rando, since hes a big softy, but if Brad joined Rando, he would probably quickly scare off most, and anyone who's dumb enough to try afterwards would not only piss off brad enough to be hunted down, but enough men in rando's army including rando himself if he found out would probably be furious she got spoiled like that and would help brad along the way. Rando was an extremely big deal in the wasteland remember, to the point none of the local warlords wanted to fuck with him, and it was only after his army was gone did they start infighting, so only someone really stupid and buzzo would be able to pull that shit, and thats assuming brads murder training failed buddy when she needed it most.

From what I remember joy just makes you feel nothing, and if you take too much you begin to have your deepest desires take you over until you finally turn into a joy mutant. if you SUCCSEED in getting your deepest desire you simply become benign, and stop moving or thinking
