Is this the saddest console launch ever?

Is this the saddest console launch ever?

>no games
>no exciting new features
>no graphical jump
>not even nearly enough consoles to meet demand
It's basically "buy the new console cuz it exists" instead of creating legit interest in it.
And people still buy it.

Whyyyyyyy

Nah, the PS4/xboner launch and generation itself feel like they never actually happened. Back in 2013 they didn't have any games ready, either. At least this time it seems like there will be some competition between both.

They are still chasing the high from the PS2 launch.

So same shit as Xbox/GC/PS2... Xbox 360 and PS3... PS4 and Xbox One?

speak for yourself jaded poster. I am excited for PS5 and the controllers features and ready for actual 4k/60fps with demon's souls, spider-man, astro's playroom, ratchet and clank, and more.

>Xbox/GC/PS2
This gave you way better graphics, a dvd player or for GC discs for the first time etc.

>Xbox 360 and PS3
Those at least sounded great on paper, nice specs, better resolution, great online etc.
Turned out pretty shit in the end at least you could get hyped for something.

>PS4 and Xbox One
yeah well I'll give you that, felt like a downgrade in some ways

>>no graphical jump
Xbox Series X is a pretty good jump.

The PS2 launch sucked tho.

What game were you hyped for on PS2 launch?

Dead or Alive 2: Hardcore?
Tekken Tag Tournament?
Eternal Ring?
Dark Cloud?

yikes
>bought a ps2 on launch and regretted it

Yeah, with no games to show that good jump

Haven't seen anything impressing, it's more like the next step than a jump.

More fps doesn't impress me really.

>Tekken Tag Tournament?
>Dark Cloud?
I enjoyed those a lot though.
Tekken bowling was fun.

They own Bethesda now though so at least it will have games eventually this time around. I heard it's backwards compatible but they've both said that before and it wasnt really

Once the games with good ray tracing start showing up you'll be impressed.

The truth is that all console launches suck you won't get the true next gen games for 2 or 3 years

> And people still buy it.
Whyyyyyyy

Eating grains makes you do stupid things you can't control.

>not even nearly enough consoles to meet demand
How is that different from any other launch?

I'm getting a PS5 day1 because why not. This is like asking why anyone would ever upgrade their GPU at a specific date. Because they want to? I don't know... suddenly I can play MonHun with better load times than even my PC and same framerate as PC, while giving my PS4 to a BING friend to play together. I don't need new exclusive games to make the purchase worth it, I'd get it sooner rather than later anyway, so might as well get it now.

for snoys maybe
Xbox has never been better, they will announce free online play soon and kill ps5

>because why not
Because there are no worthwhile games, because launch models are more likely to have production flaws, because there will inevitably be a model revision, etc.

Literally the only reason I can think of to buy one at launch is to keep it on the oldest possible firmware for homebrew whenever it gets cracked.

>b-but just wait
Ok ill wait until bethesda shows off their mess of a game running on series x in 2022 while i get to enjoy spiderman and demon's souls in 2 weeks from now with next gen visuals and no loading times

i kinda feel sorry for the kids who are growing up now since they'll never experience the true unfettered excitement and optimism surrounding the release of a truly new, more advanced games console.

i was a bit too young to remember the xbox and ps2's release but I definitely remember the excitement around the xbox 360/ps3's launch. i'd look at gameplay for the upcoming new console in 2005 and i'd be overcome with excitement over how cool and amazing looking the games were.
even the release of the ps4 in 2013, even though the graphical jump wasn't quite as staggering it was still apparent that the console was considerably more powerful than its predicessor, and games like killzone shadow fall and deep down (RIP) looked absolutely beautiful and unlike something the PS3 could pump out with any degree of success.
maybe it's just cause i'm getting old but absolutely none of the games showcases earlier this year elicited even a hint of excitement. the games all looked home on the current gen, save for higher frame rates and sharper resolutions.
the hyper surrounding previous releases will never again be replicated, and it's sad if not somewhat inevitable.

Well compared to this Gen where Xbox had halo that nobody liked and that zany zombie game its a big improvement

>didn‘t care about ps4
>never played high graphic games this gen
>gonna get a ps5 play ps4 games thanks to gold
It‘s great honestly

>Because there are no worthwhile games,
All the games I'm currently playing can be played on PS5, all of them with a massive loading time advantage, all that have unlocked framerates with a framerate advantage. It's not a demerit in any way, so again, why not?

I also gave you my personal reason (that I'd borrow my PS4 to a nitnendo firend so that he may play 5th gen MonHun for the first time) yet you chose to ignore it.

> because launch models are more likely to have production flaws
Never had any problem with Sony systems or Nintendo systems. So this doesn't even enter my mind. I'll care when it happens, which hasn't for 20 years now.

>because there will inevitably be a model revision
That's way out of reach, about 4 years from now. There's no universe where I'd ever wait 4 years and miss out on so much while at the same time playing the shittiest version of games. So this is not a point to use against buying a launch system. Unless you're talking about a secondary system (PS5 will be main main) and/or if you're not a fan of franchises that you know will release (like EDF6 coming out in summer next year, with no PC port announced yet and I sure as fuck wouldn't wait for that)

Psychological coping mechanism for the world being on fire. You're seeing an overexpression of brand loyalty because of the extremeness of today's circumstances. It's the promise of something "normal" happening at a time when nothing is normal. Don't begrudge the masses their fragile wills, for humans are products of their environment, and you won the lottery.

cope

its the sega disease

Op, you only described the launch of the SeX, what about the Ps5?

You’re excited to play games you already played again? Weird

Show me a next gen exclusive running on the series x

Smugglers run was my launch game.

>buying consoles on launch day
Will buy a PSV when it doesn't look like that
