I want to clear some things up about Yakuza 7 since there is some misinformation going around:
>Kiryu is only back in a side story, and it's a dream sequence. The real Kiryu does not show up.
>there is no "day one DLC" for Yakuza 7, and no DLC planned.
>the soundtrack is made up of 100% new tracks.
>all the character models, locations and animations have been build up from scratch. there is 0 asset flipping.
>the turn based combat has been described as the deepest and most satisfying turn based combat SEGA has ever made. boss fights are better than they ever have been.
>over 30 of the most popular JAV artists have been included in the game.
>Han Joon Gi is back but Yokoyama came up with a really clever way of making it work.
>there is so much to do in Yokohama most players still haven't been able to complete it all and are still finding new areas to enter and things to do there.
Should I play this if I only have 0?
ORE WA
IIICHI BAN DA!
>>the turn based combat has been described as the deepest and most satisfying turn based combat SEGA has ever made. boss fights are better than they ever have been.
Atlus better take some notes, then.
Hyped as fuck. Looks really fucking cool.
>no dlc planned
that's a lie, it's plainly visible on the fucking webpage that there's multiple versions of the game and higher priced ones include the dlc.
It's pretty independent, but I'd recommend to play at least Kiwami 1 and 2
Don't forget the theme song that is an absolute banger

>Kiryu is only back in a side story, and it's a dream sequence. The real Kiryu does not show up.
not true. back in the main story.
some omi guy is about to kill watase after he said he's going to disband the Omi Alliance and out of nowhere kiryu shows up and hits the attacker during a cutscene. they play it off by him being some unnamed bodyguard watase hired.
>all the character models, locations
>locations
C'mon now, i love Yakuza games but we all know they being maximum rehashing is the core of their soul.
OK then. I just keep being late to the party with new releases, and it’s starting to really annoy me.
This is literaly the 8th main game on a series that has arguably at least 3 obligatory spinoffs, the entry barrier is pretty obtuse so don't get down on yourself a real yakuza wouln't!
Sounds like legitimate garbage. Also kiwami 1 and 2 suck. Play the originals.
Why are there niggers in a yakuza game?
no ignore that faggot, this game has a completely new story and main character and a perfect place to jump in.
Cool graphics

does steam's refund policy apply to preorders as well? I wanna preorder it Kiwami 2 was so shittily optimized
I've only ever played a little bit of Yakuza Zero, but generally do prefer JRPGs. Will 7 be a good one to jump into without playing the rest seeing as it's a new main character now?
It's already out and we already know that it's shit.
Yeah, this one is the new official starting point for the series.
You can't even play 4 of the mainline games on Xbox or PC, but 7 is detached enough from the rest to be enjoyed on its own.
There's still a shitload of references.
All Yakuza games are written to work as self-contained stories. Sure you might miss a few references, but if you later play the part that was referenced you get to experience the elusive reverse-reference so you're not really missing anything. Like a Dragon is a great point to jump in further to the series.
3, 5 and 6 absolutely aren't. They're extremely reliant on existing engagement.
nope
you'll miss some references but it's disconnected from the main story, hence them releasing it with a subtitle
>it's disconnected from the main story, hence them releasing it with a subtitle
?
bro if you can't pick up 3, 5 or 6 and figure out what's happening within the first hour I'm afraid to say you might be stupid
it's called Yakuza: Like a Dragon here. Obviously to entice new players. I can tell you for an objective fact the story is disconnected so I'm not sure what your point is big boy.
I got into the series with 3 and can confirm this guy is full of shit.
SHOW DOWN
>it's called Yakuza: Like a Dragon here.
Hm, that's weird, I wasn't aware Sega's localization department gets to decide how connected a game is to the main series over the actual developers that wrote the story.
Well, I've played it along with every other Yakuza and I can tell you that it is disconnected from the main story aside from very small references and cameos, so a new player wouldn't miss anything important.
>Dragon Engine
>turn-based combat
>not Kiryu
Who the fuck cares?
RGG studios haven't put out a good game since Lost Paradise
>turn-BASED
Now you have my attention.
why does Zig Forums bitch and moan about dragon engine
just use your words why is it bad
>Well, I've played it along with every other Yakuza
I doubt it.
user, please, DO NOT LISTEN to the fags in this thread.
Yakuza 0 is the best Yakuza game by a country mile. If you're desperate for more, try Kiwami 1 (which is basically just an expansion on 0) and if you really really need more and are ok with a change in scenery get Lost Paradise.
Do not buy Kiwami 2. Do not buy Yakuza 3-6. You will be wasting your money.
