Yes but keep the focus on Mario and related franchises. It still needs characters from DK and Wario Land/Ware.

The fact that the inclusion of non-Mario characters in 8 made people ask for a Smash Kart was annoying enough, and they still haven't gotten to some good candidates from the main series yet.

I don't see why not. There's only a handful of weight classes, so there'd be nothing to balance.

The only argument I could see against it is that there would be pressure to make a bunch of non-Mario series tracks. But it turned out alright with Zelda, Animal Crossing, Splatoon, and F-Zero.

I want to see a group of Pikmin as a racer. There would be a ton of them piloting the kart, but they'd still be in the "baby" weight class.

Yeah, as long as they keep it in moderation this is a great direction to take with the series. We don’t need it to become Nintendo Kart for various reasons, but since the door is finally open there’s little reason to not bring in some more guests along with the Mario cast. Ideally, I’m hoping that the next installment brings back most of the content from 8 Deluxe and Tour, so that would include Link, Inklings, and the Animal Crossing crew.

They’ve still got so much they could pull from M&L, Paper Mario, Wario games, DK games, as well as any stragglers like Petey Piranha, a delfino person from Sunshine, the MCs from the GBC Mario Tennis, and other stuff already mentioned in the thread. Get some of that out of the way before putting in guest characters. There’s no reason they can’t have a CTR:NF sized roster without resorting to 5 baby characters, a row of koopa kids, and a row of guests

Double Dash is still the best mechanically. That they dropped the double mechanic is criminal. It was also nice having co-op attached.
Others have had better tracks or items, but none have felt as smooth for me as double dash.

Besides captain falcon, excitebike, mach rider no. They have a shit ton of unused characters they can use as far back as smb2 from minor enemies to major bosses. What the fuck ever happened with kamek? I get that DK replaced him but it's fucking 2020
