I don't get why people are dickriding this so hard. There's so little variation compared to other rogue-lites. Upgrades except Daedalus hammers are really underwhelming and even those are nowhere near as hype as what other games offer. Levels enemies and bosses are all lacking too.

I don't get it. The best part is the story/writing, but even that becomes boring after a while.

idk i can't be bothered with the story but the gameplay is really fun...

>compared to other rogue-lites
Name fiv good roguelites that you consider better and that came out in the past couple years.
Protip: you cant.

It presents previously white deities as blacks, asians, and every other color of the queer rainbow. It's just Twitterfags riding its cock and pushing its shit on Zig Forums. The game is solid, but very basic.

I like the artstyle

>The best part is the story/writing
I escaped 6 times and only now have I started getting dialogues concerning Persephone.
The dialogue system is absolutely fucked if you're not a complete shitter.
The gameplay is also a fucking grind after ~20 hours, seeing the costs of some of the upgrades makes me want to uninstall this shit.

big agree with this
every videogame character should be a pasty, chinless four-eyes so i can fit in

Dead Cells released in the last couple years.
Noita.
Slay the Spire.
Risk of Rain 2.
Void Bastards.
Wizard of Legend.
Children of Morta.

The list is pretty fucking large actually. Roguelites are the new hotness for lazy developers who can't actually be fucked to make interesting levels, and Hades is not the best example of a roguelite when it comes mechanics or room design.

Are we ever gonna be able to discuss games in peace without Zig Forums shitting threads up? We get it, you're insecure you have a small white dick. That's not anything new, it's something all women have known for a long, long time.

Greeks are white then convenient to Zig Forumstards

Yeah, they dropped the ball on dialog. You can be stuck for long periods of time behind arbitrary gates. I escaped 15 times of varying heat and am burned out. I have the weapons all unlocked, though not upgraded. At this point, I feel like I've seen all of the builds more or less. It was good, but I don't get how people can do 400+ runs of this.

it's just waifufags as usual

But it has the best mix of story/music/gameplay etc.

>Slay the Spire.
years old and more of a brainafk game
>Risk of Rain 2.
fine but worse than both Hades and RoR1
>Void Bastards.
didn't play that one. is it really that good?
>Wizard of Legend.
eh, it's alright
>Children of Morta.
really meh game. the one most like Hades to which Hades is almost just better, though I prefer CoM's open levels and its attached gameplay to Hades' closed rooms

got 62 hours our of Hades before my first 32 clear. 58 now and it's gotten pretty dull at this point, but that was more than RoR2 and a lot more than CoM

Void bastards was fun, but it's not a good example of a better, less repetitive game. If anything it supports that repetition is fine as long as it's fun and the game has good style.

Worst part is how you get stronger in later playthroughs through upgrades inbetween runs. Why the fuck would i want a roguelike that requires me to grow ingame rather than out of the game by learning its mechanics

>There's so little variation compared to other rogue-lites
You have no idea, each area has about 20 possible encounters at max, and you play through 15 of them in a single run, THAT is how little variation there is

I've finished 2 clears but I apparently still have more dialogue to unlock. How fucking long does this shit go on? I'm going to clear at least once with every weapon, and I want to unlock the final weapon aspects.

The character designs are great and they appeal to pretty much every demographic of horny people.

This. It's so fucked.

The design of this game is the worst I've seen in decades. It is the antithesis of everything a roguelike-like should be. I suppose it's no surprise that zoomers love it.

>manface aphrodite
>nigger athena
Only one i was pleasantly suprised by was Nyx

This is a popular gameplay design choice that started with Rogue Legacy back in the day. Hades is definitely not a true roguelike, thus necessitating the term Roguelite. I wouldn't go about blaming Hades for this trend when it's only co-opted it.

Hades doesn't drastically change your moveset throughout your run but it starts you with moves that are already enjoyable to use. It's a better baseline experience that doesn't vary as much compared to most other rogue-lites I've played where the variation is greater but your starting moves are fucking terrible and frequently make early game a slog.

It takes 10 cleared runs for the basic ending and around 60 clear/fail for the hidden aspects and epilogue.
If you die in the first couple rooms, the same npcs will be at the House. For the hidden aspects, you need to pump blood into the spear and then exhaust Achilles’ dialogue (he has mountains of it).

I fucking wish dude, but no not really.

This. Hades is content-dry and the only good level design is in Tartarus, but having consistently good movesets aside from the very beginning of the game where you don’t have a second dash is a breath of fresh air coming from cancer like RoR2 where you become a mass of items more than a moveset past the fifth minute.
The game is far from perfect, but it remains a game up to 32 heat runs where hordes of armored shields, chariots, bowmen, rats, and lingering hitboxes make you want to tear your hair out.

Their only good game was Bastion
Sad but true

Pretty much this, is not a bad game, but a lot of the praise comes from the typical tumblr/twitter type of crowd

You can do it without making a character stronger. FTL is a roguelite which allows you to unlock ships and learn the game, without making future runs easier. Its retarded that i get a choice between getting the purple water stuff and a healing fountain, and i pick the purple water since i can upgrade my character. Im actually sabotaging my current run to be stronger later. I hope whomever came up with that idea to get corona

Always Take Hammer upgrade?
Always Take Hermes upgrade?
Try to always go damage increase over % increase?

Yes, yes and no

It's above average for a roguelite because of the great gameplay core but pretty weak when it's in direct competition with games like devil slayer in the melee focused genre who also have a good core but also offer an ungodly amount of variety.
I'd rate Hades and Curse of the Dead Gods the same. Good games but severely lacking content. I was done with both after 10 hours and a few clears.

That's one of my main issue with roguelites that was born out of rogue legacy on top of the dead cells scroll unlock system that gets thrown everywhere nowadays. It's shit. People say Hades has good progression system but it's god awful.

RoR 2 completely bungled the final level, and even before then they sealed their fate when they sold out to Gearbox

I always take hammers but frequently skip Hermes, too often he's just giving useless shit like attack or special speed that I can never notice even at epic levels. Last one is really too weapon, skill and build dependent to make a blanket statement about.

>previously white
I'll take the bait.
In game it is stated that they can look however they want, based on how they want to be perceived. The only one that doesn't seem to give a shit how they look is Artemis, whom is based. This is the only example of media I have ever seen where it makes sense to have a diverse cast, because they can be whatever they want and have their personality reflected in their design. Dio is a drunken party nigger, and it's hilarious and fits his character. Zeus is a perfect greek sculpture, which again fits his character. I hate forced diversity, but this game makes it feel natural and I'm tired of hearing people bitch about it. And yeah there's some queer shit, but just regular gay stuff, no gender-fluid pan-faggotry, so I can personally overlook it.

I got to 10 clears legitimately and then gave myself 9999 of every resource. The game’s a lot more fun without ‘out-game’ pressure like

When adding heat challenges which are the easiest to hardest ranking order?
